Very interesting, and MINI-malist.

But it does make me wonder just how light and more efficient an Airstream could be, if ultralight materials were used for everything on the inside, and some of the outside

Thin, stainless steel countertops instead of laminate over pressed wood,
Carbon fibre honeycomb flooring sandwiched around aluminum crossmembers instead of plywood
Microwave/convection ovens instead of standard steel ovens,
Smaller, high efficiency furnaces and fridges requiring less propane, and therefore only one propane bottle
Air conditioning units on the bottom of the camper, lowering centre of gravity, improving aerodynamics, and pulling air from the shady side of the trailer
Toilets that pull from the grey water tank for flushing
LED lights instead of incandescent bulbs

With everything above the frame lighter, couldn't the frame be made lighter? And if the frame and the entire unit was lighter, couldn't the axle set up be lighter too?

And then maybe a Mini Cooper could pull a fully-equipped trailer, not just a shell with some European furniture.

Yes, I didn't see anything that resembled a kitchen or a bath in there. Cute but truly an aluminum tent.
