Checkered Flooring - Help

We bought a 1979 Argosy Minuet 7.3 last Monday and are enjoying the renovation process of removing Stove/Sink & twin bed and overhead cabinets. That stuff is easy. What I am concerned with is removing the carpet and installing the checkered flooring. I haven't pulled the carpet up yet but wanted to talk to someone who has done the White/Black checkered flooring. I am a fairly handy type guy but I am curious of the durability of laminate or whatever its made out of. We live in Texas so it gets really HOT and COLD so I could just see the laminate peeling up due to the adhesive melting in the heat even if stored in a covered storage.

Any thoughts, ideas or insights are welcome.

Thank you.

We replaced old carpet with Flor carpet tiles about 4years ago. The low nap we picked is easy to clean, tiles can be switched out if stained, and it's a floating floor (which you want). Comfortable to walk on in temps below zero to 110+ Plus widely varying humidity, and with no apparent movement. I just prepped the plywood with a couple of coats of acrylic paint. I know it's not tile, but I bet you could get the same checkered effect. You might want to consider it; we've liked it a lot.
