Day 4 2010 all over

Yesterday I posted as day 4...actually TODAY is day 4...vacation must be working, where did I leave my watch?
Left Bonny State Park having seen no official or campground host. Only had maybe two campers in the whole campground. From Hale we traveled to Rawlins WY, a short, long day...
I think the wind was against us all day. Between climbing from 4,200 ft to almost 9,000 feet then back to 6,200 feet and a HOWLING nose wind, we probably dropped to below 11 mpg at 65 mph.
AND...either the wind did a surgical removal of our Blue Boy OR we were relieved of it last night by campground no seem-ums...
Today's noteables...stockyard aroma...blue skys...screaming winds...up to almost 9,000 ft...vista views second to none and a stunning sunset. We just had to close the windows because its getting chilly inside! Much nicer than the 98 degree in MO.
ANYWAY...we are camped at the Rawlins KOA. The Misses made pork loin, home made mashed potatos, beans and rolls...Full stomach, long day, headed to bed...
Tomorrow...on to the Jackson WY area!

good pix vernon, i love driving that route.
folks don't realize just how INTENSE the high plains winds can be and how they affect mpg.
maybe that's why lincoln looks SO angry in that statue...
he's tired of standing there in the 30-40 mph breeze.
safe travels!
cheers
