Decreasing the axle rating to 2400 pounds will result in having 10 inch brakes, which is OK, since you have a tandem.

The 10 inch self adjusting brakes are good for 3500 pounds per axle.

The greatest venting when towing, at least what I experienced, was to have the front and rear vents, opened to the rear, ONLY.

When towing, that creates a small vacuum, which kept the trailer...
