Sliding Shower Door on 1970 23' Safari
I have the 1970 double bed with the rear side wet toilet/shower ....this is a rarer model than the rear bathroom style ..... i have done extensive renovations but am looking at a solution for the sliding shower door (folds)..... it has nylon blocks on top and glides on the bottom.... the door tends to bind up when opening and closing and I'm looking for a better fix or replacement ideas that other may have used on this model .... any help is most appreciated.... thanks

Hello fellow Victorian. When you say folds... is it an accordion door or a pocket door?

Hello .... the door is the 2 part accordion door ...its very jumpy when you slide ...ive had it out and have tightened the nylon glides on top but would like to find another option for inside the fiberglass stall .... the glides are getting very worn and ill probably have to fabricate some but wondered what others may have done.

Darn, none of my 3 have accordion doors so I may be of no help. I do know that silicone spray lubricant has been a tremendous help on getting my tambours and curtain slides moving...have you tried any of that yet?

I recently bought the same model. I am a long way from fixing the shower door. First I will probably need to remove the shower completely for floor repair. I will be watching this post however to see if someone has a solution to the door issue.

Thanks. I've only had the Airstream a week, so there's a long way to go. The floor in the back under the sink and shower is soft and needs replacement. Can you tell me how the shower is attached? I don't see any attachment points.

One model of current Airstream production uses this:
Possible?

foiled again .... thanks for the tip i'll look into it some more but in mine i use sliding bathroom door which then has a curtain inside when you shower. What id like is to come up with abetter door as the standard one doesn't work that great as it has nylon glides on the top that wear out.
DremStremer ....you need to remove the cover strip midway up the shower stall which will exposes the attachments to the wall...... also removing all the cabinet work around it which I'm sure you had figured out .... the toilet was a bit of a pain in mine to get out which you have to do to remove the bottom half of the shower .... you'll then see the black tank under the toilet ..... mine was cracked and needed to be replaced.... have fun!!

Thanks rucos. I saw that strip on the shower wall but didn't realize it was removable. I thought it was a lip molded into the top half. I did expect I had to remove all the cabinetry around the shower, and the toilet. You mentioned you had a curtain inside the shower. Is that something you added? It doesn't look like mine ever had a curtain. It makes sense to have one though since the folding door doesn't look waterproof.

dremstremer ....mine had snaps mounted around the door inside .... i just bought a shower curtain and a snap kit and modified it to fit ....works great and cheap enough that you could just replace it every couple of seasons
