Foam Futon on Guacho, who is using it and do you like it?

I've seen lots of posts asking about futon mattresses, but am still a little vague on how well they work. Seems many people say they are fine, and some say they are hard to convert to a couch and only good as a temporary solution.

Will a 6" foam futon mattress work on a gaucho? It will mostly be folded down and used as a bed, but I want to be able to put it up as a couch when company visits.

I found a 6" foam futon here:

which seems more likely to work than a thicker or spring version.

In checking into getting a custom hinged mattress, the futon is less than hal

Although not used in my AS, I have two futons with custom mattresses from here:

They are very nice.

I bought one and wanted to report back with a short term report:

The good:
- Very comfortable
- An economical solution.
- Fits full size sheets better.
- Has stayed in place nicely while in the up position, without any antislip mat or other things.

The bad:
- Hangs over the front about 4-5 inches and is deeper, which makes it a little less comfortable for sitting.
- Harder to fold, I have to pull up on the futon a bit to get it to push in. Not terribly difficult, but does require a bit of coordination.

Conclusion:
Short term, I am happy with the purchase. I have replaced the rear one which I will mostly leave down. My plan is to use it in the up position a bit in the next few months and if I still like it, replace the front with the same thing. Sleeping wise it is miles beyond the old worn out one that was there.

Thanks for the update. It makes sense that it would be longer since the original gaucho adds on a separate piece when you set it up to make up the rest of the width.
