Correct me if I am wrong, but you still need the battery power in order to run the fridge on propane. I have tried to run it in the yard prior to our trips in order to pre cool it, and if the battery is dead we can not run it. So for that reason when we tow we directly use the battery. That is with a 19Ft with the smaller freezer (still waiting for our GB to be delivered), so maybe the larger units are different.

Most of the refrigerators require 12 volt power for their control board and thermostat to function at all.

First trip coming up

We have done some practice backing in at a local campground and....we finally are camping!!

I did it on the first try!! Unfortunately it is not a sunny day and it has started to drizzle, but we can’t learn the ins-and-outs of camping in Willie unless we “just do it!”Click image for larger version

1: Electric
2: Propane
3: Battery

If you have 50amp service there is no threat of a “brown out”. You will have enough power to run all A/C units, fridge, exhaust fans, vent hood, hot water, etc. We now have spent 180 nights in our Globetrotter without losing power using all of our electrical appliances at the same time, including my beloved InstantPot!

Highly recommend you invest in a EMS/surge protector. This will shut down the power if there is a glitch in electrical service to the Airstream. This has happened to us twice. There was a significant drop in voltage from the tree providing 50amp service to the coach, and therefore the EMS shut down power to our Globetrotter.

We do have a surge protector.

One new lesson so far......if you “trip” the breaker, check the reset on the campground pedestal.

Glad to hear you are out-and-about! The only way to learn to master your coach is to climb that “learning curve”. [emoji6] I’m enjoying your photos.

Yeah, this spring sure has been a crazy ride. We are heading to Michigan next weekend and I hope the weather is less...dramatic.

Sure gets loud in a rainstorm, eh?!

Hopefully you have a EMS which are much more than just a surge protector. Some people use the term interchangeably. See the article below if your not familiar with EMS's, it's lengthly but informative.

Glad you made it out to go camping, enjoy your new trailer!!!
