Title:
1956 Airstream Flying Cloud 22 - California
I just posted a new ad on Airstream Classifieds.
1956 Airstream Flying Cloud. The quintessential vintage Airstream with the coveted Whale Tail rear panel configuration. 1 of 100 California made Flying Clouds in
1956. Of Airstream's 2 factories, Ohio and CA, only California produced the Whale Tail from 1954-57.
Of all the tiny home layouts, Airstream did it best back in the 50s. This one is with a full bathroom and an open floor plan in the front. 22' tongue to bumper and 2870 lbs empty weight.
A lot of restoration work has been done from the frame up with a careful loyalty to the original aesthetic.
*New electrical panel, outlets, and lighting.
*New plumbing lines, drains, toilet, and tankless hot water heater. Restored original faucets.
*New propane tanks, regulator, lines, and restored heater and stove.
*Refurbished original Marvel refrigerator. (120v only)
*Rebuilt subfloor front, rear, and side by the door are new, sandwiched under the walls and bolted properly to the frame.
*New natural Marmoleum flooring.
*Rebuilt and refinished original cabinetry.
*New outer window gaskets. No leaks!
*New screens and opener hardware where necessary.
* Rebuilt main entry door, with new gaskets, original iconic Bargman H20-2 door opener with new lock and keys.
Disclosures we'd like to mention:
The aluminum outer skin is in good condition for it's age but not perfect. There is a slight wiggle in the Whale Tail honestly represented in the photographs. In most light, it's barely noticable. The custom riveted whale tail embellishment is a patch. For the purists, replacing the entire panel is possible.
The trailer has not been polished! Some panels are shinier than others but overall bright and clean. Upon closer inspection you'll find some scratching and small dings or beauty marks. It will polish nicely if you like a mirror shine.
There are some items we used for staging purposes only: black and yellow CA license plate, all the pillows, bedding and the rattan sofa. There are no holding tanks or a
12v electrical system. If you'd like to add any modifications, the sky is the limit here as there is plenty of room for add-ons.
I've been restoring vintage trailers, mostly 50s Airstreams, full time for 12+ years. I know them well and would consider taking on your vision for any modifications you'd like.
