Actually Darrell we have been busy with the birth of our fourth grandson last week. Your point about being off-topic was well taken (if a little aggressive in tone IMO). I hope to finish the wheel well work this week to cover the exposed plywood sub-floor. Hope your recent rally put you in a good Springtime mood . . .

Good Morning 20 Footer Folks.....I am getting ready to go camping and need some help.

I have found the following:

1. Water heater bypass valve (yellow)
2. A valve on the white (assume cold) water line next to the water heater
3. Can't find a valve for the red (assume hot) water line next to the water heater......anyone know where it is?
4. Two valves for hot and cold (drains) in the rear storage compartment.

Are there any other valves I need to look for before connecting water to the Airstream? The Owners' manual says there is one under the trailer.....darned if I can find it

Hi Steve,

Good news that you are getting ready to go camping!

Bob [CruizinDux] posted some photos of the two low-point drains under the front dinette seat.

One of the drains is fairly visible (your 2), and the other is buried under that box on the back of the heater (your 3).

The right-hand valve, as seen in my photos above, is hard to see when you look down through the opening in the dinette seat base.

Post 428 has a photo from above, and the hidden valve is slightly shown under that dark box on the back of the water heater:

They are also hard to turn, so a small adjustable wrench or pair of pliers helped me get them started.

The other valve you need to close is the white (yours may be brass?) one for draining the fresh water tank. If you stand at the street side of the trailer, facing the sewer dump valves and outlet, the water tank drain valve is just behind (further toward the center line of the trailer), and is on the vertical face of that large rectangular shape under the rear of the trailer (which protects the actual tank IMO). Your owners manual should illustrate some of this.

It has been my experience on the Internet that sarcasm and tongue-in-cheek comments do not translate well, generally speaking. Some authors follow such comments with an icon to warn that the words do not carry their "straight-up" meanings.

If the reader does not "get it" then the attempted humor backfires, as here. I appreciate the clarification.

Thanks Peter! I knew there had to be another one accessible from somewhere on the outside. I will look for it this evening. I think I can feel one under the box by the water heater....couldn't get it to turn.

On the stubborn low point drain by the water heater, if you have the "T" valve handle like mine (not round like Bob's), the end of the handle is probably facing forward when open (to the right as you look down at the back of the water heater). You should be able to get a small adjustable wrench on it to at least get it started. Or maybe some small needle-nose pliers? I forget what I used.

Once you break the plastic-to-plastic friction on the new valve, it moves fairly well. Mine had to rotate clock-wise 90 degrees to close, which means the end of the T-handle ended up facing toward the center of the trailer, away from the water heater, when closed. In my photo linked recently, it is the white end of this handle you can just barely see sticking out under the black box behind the water heater.

Thanks YMMV - I suspect that it's open then, I can't see anything sticking out and can barely get my hand down where it's at. I will try the 90 degree turn clockwise and see what I can do. If it's open, like I suspect, then it would close when I turn it the 90 degrees.

If you bought the FC20 new, then all the valves (low point and water tank drain) should be open, as winterized by the factory/dealer IMO.

You could always hook up the water and see where the big leaks are . . . !
