The older I get the more I like food. An oven gives that many more options for cooking food. I like options ................
And as has been said before...... an oven cooked meal provides an aroma and warmth on those winter days that cannot be improved upon. I use my trailer 12 months of the year unless the snow drifts have it blocked in beyond the abilities of 4 wheel drive to get it out.

I have learned to not use the bottom portion of the oven for storage while en-route. I did that once and, on the roads I travel, bouncing stuff broke off the propane line to the oven burner. Turned into a blow torch when I tried to light it! Pizza cooked on the stove top was not good at all on that trip.

In our opinion, there is no choice between a microwave and an oven, the oven doesn't 'kill' your food or change the molecular properties of a simple glass of water.....

We use our oven every time out. Along with whatever we make for our meals we try to bring along homemade apple crisp to bake for whoever we run into, yes with vanilla ice cream. So yes we use the oven and happy to share the results!

We cook biscuits in our oven most mornings we are out. Strange but we never cook them at home.

I've used my oven on every trip. Sometimes when I grill I use the oven to keep things warm (small grill surface) while I finish up the steaks etc. I also bake about every trip as well. When it's not in use or when I'm towing I put the nesting (marine style) cookware in there. Works great!

Convection oven once in a while, microwave often, outdoor grille most of the time.

In my 73 Sovereign, the oven sticks into the bunk area. I am doing a remodel, and it seems the space would be better served by a rotating flat screen, similar to the non AS campers out there. To me, it would make better sense to combine a microwave/convection unit, so as to be able to micro and bake(probably only with shore power), or to install a stove with an oven below it. Or maybe just eat out, I am not a very good cook anyhow.

In my '74 the layout is the same. The oven is used to warm uP the trailer by baking cookies on cold evenings. This can be done while boondocking or when plugged in.

The TV fits fine on the other partition, which backs onto the pantry. Since your head always goes at the end opposite the oven, nothing is lost by it's intrusion into the sleeping area (unless you have really giant feet).

You can still work in a microwave (or combo convection) if you want, but nothing beats the smell of cookies baking in a warm trayla!

ha! ha! Haven't used oven yet - matter of fact, haven't used much of anything yet except the bed. Did that come out right??

Am driveway camping, so have access to nice house. I love sleeping in the 'stream, though.

Am a bit intimidated by my oven - the whole propane deal. I guess most newbies are afraid of blowing themselves up.

Prefer the oven to microwave, though, so will have to outgrow this phobia.

We will be heading to Montana the end of the month, and plan on using the oven in-route. We will make a couple of overnight stops. I personally don't like to travel too many hours a day.. Would rather have a fairly short day and settle in before Happy Hour and the Dinner Hour. Have batch cooked and frozen several meals, so for those short overnight stops, warming up our homemade (in the oven) "TV" - frozen dinners is ideal.

The oven works super well. We camp a lot, and cook & bake in the oven just about every night. Make some chocolate chip cookie dough and keep it in the freezer. make sure to get a small cookie sheet. and pizza is a winner. so are baked mac and cheese, baked chicken, and of course, things like chicken pot pie....

Airstream ovens

Our gas oven heated unevenly until we added a baking tile atop the metal heat deflector. We still turn things midway through baking time but the oven is definitely way better than it was. Temperatures stay steady and pretty much calibrated with the knob.

We bake muffins, brownies, casseroles, pizzas, and other things. And yes, we even use our oven for storage when we're not cooking -- it mostly holds baking pans plus a couple of bags of tortilla chips.

If we bought a trailer without one, we'd add a trailer.

We use our oven for storage and will make things in it every once in a while. But about storage, what I don't like about the food cabinets is not being able to see down in there to well, and even though there's plenty of space, the canned food etc is still hard to see what it is.

oh ya, sometimes even real food too...

sadly right now it is running very HOT so it needs a new thermostat, hopefully SOON...

Our oven is our bread box while on the road. We love stopping at local bakeries along our way, and then we tuck our buys into our bread box oven--no mashing, keeps fresh, good use of the space. ~G
