Two Q's: Insurance and Anyone Want to Take a Road Trip?

Hi.

Two quick q's for the forum.

1. I have moved to Colorado, but my trailer is in San Francisco (Petaluma). I can't put on my CO policy until I move it out here, apparently.

Does anyone know any great sources of insurance for older/vintage trailers? It is just going to be sitting in storage until I can get it to Colorado, which is my 2nd question.

2. Would anyone want to take a road trip between now and this spring and use my trailer (23' 1958 VGC Silver Streak--sorry, there is no SS forum so I am posting here, but I love Airstreams!) and in the process of enjoying the trailer drop it off for me in CO?

This might be a crazy suggestion, alternatively does anyone have suggestions on how to get affordable transport of it out here?

Thanks!!!!

Foremost had insurance for vintage trailers. They offer agreed value policies.

I use an agreed value policy from Progressive. No inspections and they didn't blink an eye at 20,000 value.

I think you will want it insured before you move it.

Once you have purchased it, it should be insurable by your company.

Perhaps call an RV dealer or even repair place, who may be able to refer you to someone who will tow it for you.

Good luck,

Maggie

As to someone else moving your trailer, the subject of liability needs the usual legalese boilerplate. Both parties need clarification from insurance carriers.

Orange County Airstream in Westminister contracts with a trucker that hauls Airstreams all over the country. You might want to give them a call.

First of all...are you fully aware of it's condition? Has all the maintenance been done on it such as bearing pack, tire condition and do all the sustems work? Otherwise you should find someone to trailer it to you. My wife and I could do the mive for you if we were sure it would not have priblems on the road. We are both retired so our schedule is flexable but subject to hazardous road conditions. The Spring might be best for sll.

HI! I lived in Evergreen, CO for a great deal of my adult life. While no longer there I have many friends and am always looking forward to a reason to return. Among those friends, is an owner of a Dodge Cummins turbo diesel 3/4 ton pick and an owner of a couple of rvs. If we can time this correctly, I can fly to Colorado. He and I can drive his truck to Petaluma, pick up your trailer and have an enjoyable trip back to Colorado.

He is a former police officer and private security supervisor. I am a former member of the 101st Airborne Division, US Army CID Agent and retired financial services sales manager. We are "house broken" and responsible people.

Where in Colorado do you live and what is your time frame. If you want to email me directly I can work out a means to do that. Give it some thought.

David Parker may have proposed the ideal solution for you. Should you have to use a commercial carrier, we had a great experience having a 16 Classic towed 1700 miles from So. Cal to Arkansas in November. We Googled and found what was a broker. I rated my experience with them highly, and also got acquainted with the actual carrier who moved my AS. Foremost Transport in Goshen, IN. Good luck.
