Got to mention voodoo doughnuts. Started in Portland, Oregon (I think) but now in Eugene, OR, Denver, Austin, and Taipei City, Tiawan

Near Two Harbors on the way to Grand Marais is Betty's Pies.
I give it 2 out of 5 stars.

We just got back from a 17 day trip all around Minnesota. By the second week we were calling it the "Donut Tour." No matter how small the town they all had a great donut shop. Yes, we hit the famous one in Grand Marais, but other towns not quite as famous were just as good. The only place I've had a better donut was a small shop in Battle Creek, MI. Years later we still talk about it!

Should have gone a few miles further could have had a Persian

"A Persian is an oval-shaped, cinnamon-bun-like sweet roll with a sweet, pink icing made of either raspberries or strawberries. It is credited to have originated at Bennett's Bakery in and remains particular to the former city of Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada. The city is now known as Thunder Bay"
No matter what the quote says it's a Donut

OK, those donuts look great. If you are ever in Indianapolis, on the west side of town there is a place called Long's Donuts!!!! I have been going there since high school and I am an old guy now!! I still say WOW!!! Yeast are to die for. About 3 miles east of the Indy 500 track!

Its nice to know you don't have to go to Persia to get a Persian. I'm convinced. There's something about pastries, coffee, and fresh air.

In Ridgecrest CA, there was (and hopefully still is) a donut shop that was fabulous. Not much else in town except a Navy base, but that donut shop was open 24/7. Best donuts i ever had!
