The wife did it again

My wife (airkar) has done it again. You may remember how we bought our 27' Serenity this summer. Been looking/shopping/researching for a couple of years when this summer my wife spotted our AS on the web. So, we go take a look at the AS. Yep, it's the model we wanted, but sort of out of our budget, so I said let's head home & think it over. We get home & I take a power nap. I wake up and Kar is sitting on the bed & says. Honey, "I texted them an offer." I said "texted who?" she says "Bates R/V" I say "how much?" she says "about 25% below ask listed price." I said "they won't take that offer, but next time let's talk it over first OK." Well, Bates R/V called our bluff and took our low ball offer & that's how we became AS owners. I haven't taken a nap since.

Now, I come home last night & the first thing my wife says is ... "Honey, I got us jobs." I say "I already have a job (own a pool cleaning business)". She says, "I mean 2 workkamper jobs for next summer." We will be spending May-Oct 2014 in Maine working at a KOA campground in Bar Harbor/Mount Desert Island/Acadia National Park. WOW ! Part-time hours at minimum wage, but with a full hook-up. We won't get rich, but should make enough to buy diesel & lobster. Hope my business sells by then. My beautiful wife has done it again. BTW, a cool thing about this KOA is that they have 6 AirStream trailers that they rent out for overnight rentals to guests.

Welcome To Maine

We bought or AS this summer and live year round in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. We are about 2 1/2 hours south of Bar Harbor and will be looking for you next summer as you drive through.
The KOA there is really nice. You'll be about 1/2 mile to a lobster pound, but a lobsterman may still be delivering directly to the campground.
Have a great summer and get crackin'!!

We went there last summer for the cheap lobster! It is a wonderful and beautiful place as others have said. I, too, am jealous. (Although we were in Yellowstone for 5 days - having left there yesterday morning. Cool temps and even a sleet/hailstorm while returning from Beartooth Pass!Dan

Thanks everyone! We are both super excited about our adventure. Being newbies AND full-timers (as soon as the pool business gets sold), it's nice to have our first date commitment made - now we can start planning a route. And it really will be a "we" thing...in spite of my, er.....pro-active nature <tee hee>.

It was tough deciding between Colorado (kids live there) and Maine - but neither of us have been up the eastern seaboard before, so we opted for Maine. Any and all suggestions of where to go - places to see between Jacksonville, FL and Bar Harbor are more than welcome. We hope to meet fellow Airstreamer's along the way!

Buy some warmer clothes... Summer in Maine will feel like winter to Floridians. Beautiful country up there, and very nice folks. We were there last fall and drove through Acadia. Amazing.

That is my hubby's worst nightmare! LOL He likes to hunt, I like to purchase Airstreams. I don't see it as a problem. Luckily he goes with my flow.

We are talking about the workcamp experience once we retire. I am having a really hard time waiting! Shh, don't tell him!

Added a pic from the trail along the coast next to Barharbor.

We were camping after late Sept heading home from Canada, the stop in Maine
Was winter, when the temp at night goes down to freezing it is winter.
Don't bother with bathing suits, just roll up jeans half way to knees when you test the surf temp in August, natives are swimming and I swear my toes were getting numb.

We loved the lobster, better than Floridas crawfish called lobster.

You will enjoy, your DW will make sure you are happy as she will be.
