looking for good campgrounds near Banff

Looking for a good campground near Banff Alberta as a home place to stay at least a week or so and investigate Lake Louise and Jasper as well as Banff. We have a Bambi seventeen footer. Will probably get there in Mid July time frame. Full Hookups would be nice but not necessary. Any information or recommendations for campgrounds or travel routes from Seattle would be greatly appreciated. We will then proceed to glacier national Park on our way back to Atlanta.

thanks for sharing and networking information it's the best.

The full service campgrounds in Banff National Park include Lake Louise and Banff Tunnel Mountain (which is walking distance from Banff townsite). The full service campground just south of Jasper is called Whistlers. All are good, but busy.

For your drive south to Glacier Park, consider driving down the Kananaskis Highway 40 (good camping at Kananaskis Lakes), cut over to Highway 22 south of Highwood Pass, and spend a night at Waterton Lakes National Park. The townsite campground is full service and excellent.

All these campgrounds will require bookings.

Have a great trip!!

Hi Muffinsam Hope your weather is better than ours It's -25c here but starting to warm up! There is many camp grounds along the #1 heading west around Exshaw to Jasper or Golden, near Exshaw there is a great provincial park called Bow Valley with full hook ups. If you are in the first two weeks July the Stampede is in full swing in Calgary! Jonathan

We were in Banff last September and stayed at both Two Jack Campgrounds. The Main was nice and quiet and offered a decent sized campsite for our 23' International. The Lakeside campground was even nicer as they have several lake view sites. The Lakeside fills up early so reservations are recommended. They do offer first come first serve but you need to get in line at 7:00AM to get a site if you don't have a reservation. We went all the way up to Jasper and would highly recommend the drive up to Jasper along the Icefield hwy. it was spectacular. We also went to Waterton Lakes which is the Canadian Glacier Park extension. Very beautiful and scenic.

Enjoy you trip,

Allan
