Well I thought I would toss this out here.
Last year one of my frineds from the 4x4 club I'm with was in a BAD car wreck. She spend 4 months in the hospital and was left Paryalized from the waist down.
Well they are a dual income family so this has really hurt them. Thankfully She had good insurance but things are very tight even with the LTD. One major problem is that their home is unsuitable for her. It's a tri level and impossible for her to navigate. She has been living with her parrents away from her husband and two childeren as a result.
Our Club is trying to help them build a new home. They have secured the land to build it on. We have a large home contractor that is basicly building the house at cost once they can come up with the down to keep their payments low. Their current house doesn't have a lot of equity.
Well what we are doing is restoring a 1980 Jeep CJ5. I do mean restored. This thing was completely dissassembled every thing, including the engine and the transmission were rebuilt. The floor had some rust so the floor was replaced. The body was then finished by Concord Body shop. It has a $2k paint job that they donated. The tub was then Lined with Scorpion spray in bedliner by Kennesaw mountain Accessories. This jeep will be better then new. The body is better then new. It has a complet new up todate electrical system. It will meet emmisions for the year it was manufactured.
Anyway what wee will be doing is having a fund raising dinner for $25 a plate. Due to GA law we can't raffle the jeep but we can have a fundraising dinner and it be a Door prize.
There will be some runner up prises including a $890 Warn HS9500 Winch new in the box and a few other things.
More information and complete pictures of the build up are available at
www.gbr4wd.com The information about Robin Payne and the jeep project in menu on the left. I'm the guy that usualy has the bandanna on his head.
I'll let you know when the Dinner tickets become available. I thought I would go ahead and put this out here to get some interest. The Jeep should be completed in about 2 more weeks. It will be at a few events in the SE.
Here is a picture of it from a couple weeks ago.
