THE BOOK--instructions from Airstream

Well, I took the advice of one of you people and am reading the instruction book that came with the tt. There is a lot in that puppy--it has been better asking on this forum--prefer the personal touch--but they do answer a lot of questions in the book.

The book shows a Tekonsha Voyager as the brake controller. Wonder if Airstream has some $ relationship with Tekonsha????

The point being, if you miss my nieve/dumb questions, I am busy reading.

The Voyager is an incredibly popular controller. Showing a photo of one is a bit like showing a Ford pickup as a tow vehicle. There are a lot of them out there.

It is strange to me why the Voyager is so popular. The difference in price between the Voyager and Prodigy, for example, is so insignificant as to be meaningless. Tens of thousands of dollars on the Airstream, tens of thousands more on the tow vehicle, and people quibble over thirty or forty dollars for a brake controller? Not like it's important, or anything - all it is going to do is save your life, maybe.

Voyager is a piece of crap. I had one. The Airstream dealer of all folks installed it.

Within the first month or so of having the camper, I got a Prodigy second hand from a forum member.

It is a night and day difference.

I found a world of difference when I switched from a Voyager to a Jordan Ultima 2020. Set it and forget it. I had to constantly fiddle with the Voyager, and it never did seem to work right.

The Airstream dealer did it to me also--Voyager. That is why I am wondering if there is a $ relationship--could it be they have an old inventory to get rid of?

Oh well, it gives me something to do while driving--adjusting, eating, reading and talking on the cell phone.
