More of a vent
While geographic information is nice, I think EVERYONE should be required to post what year/model Airstream they own if help is needed for a particular problem.
Sure, there are people who join the forum who do not own an American Classic, but I am really tired of people who post, "Where do I hook up the campground's water" types of questions without sharing what kind of trailer they have.
Kinder souls than me have to follow up with a "Welcome, what kind of Airstream do you have?"
Some information should be required.

I think no
on a requirement. When I joined I did not own an Airstream. When I joined it was to find information and be able to perform searches. I think as one becomes accustomed to the forum they logically would like to add info to their profile and log-in to interact on a more personal level. But I think no to requiring it.

I was mainly talking about type/year of coach, and GENERAL VICINITY of location (even State or region). If your like me, and I know I am , I'm just not worried about Nigerians stealing my Airstreams.

required info
I do not think it should be a requirement to post info. Having said that, I do feel an adequate amount of information may be helpful in an inquiry. If we anwser this question correctly do we win the thingamabob Andy is quizzing us about?

Some of us would like to fill out more of a profile, but since we don't want to submit our year of birth (pretty vain, huh?), we can't submit anything else either!!!!! Plus there just aren't enough spaces to list our whole fleet!!

hello all
well of course you're not alone......
i'm standing right behind you!!!
but that still doesn't answer the question.
oh..... the voices are so loud......please stop them now, so i can think.
stingrayl82.......where did you go?......it was here a second ago.....
andy's post seems clear to me and really does fit this thread....now will someone please tell me what it is!!!!
a have a friend mike, who was planning to join the forums,
but these questions about personal details (even if they are fake for many here) has made him reluctant.....
so he asked me to post this here for him....while he decides.
MIKEY'S MEATLOAF
1 lb Ground pork
1/2 lb Ground lamb
1/2 lb Ground veal
2 Carrots (grated)
1 Onion (chopped)
1/4 c Saltine crackers (crushed)
1/4 c Oatmeal
1/4 c Bread crumbs (or less)
1 t Salt
1/2 ts Black pepper
1/4 ts Cayenne pepper
1/2 c Sour cream
1 Egg
1/2 ts Dried sage
Cook carrot & onion in microwave on high for 3 or 4 min. to soften.
Combine all ingredients in large bowl and mix well. Add only enough bread
crumbs so that the loaf holds together well. Form into a loaf & place into
an Au gratin or shallow baking pan, large enough to hold it. Preheat the
oven to 350 deg. and cook loaf for 1 1/2 hrs. or until internal temp.
reaches 170 deg. Serve with salsa ketchup or your favorite sauce.
i like this version because there is no rabbit in it.
cheers

I'm not sure if the Privacy Act of 1974 applies to civilians or not (we use it a lot in the military), but it would seem to me that if it does, then posting personal info should be the member's choice and noone else's. Just my $.02.

I think year and model of Airstream product, if any, and at least state/province, and country should be mandatory. If you want to tell me your name is Joe Blow, and you live in Jackalope Falls, Kansas, and you own a 1974 Sovereign, and you do live in kansas, and you do own a Sovereign, that should be sufficient.
My $.02, also. So, does that make $.04?

Darnit Overlander63 I'm a linguist, not a mathematician! (Pretend Bones is saying that to Jim Kirk) By the way, I do agree that providing the year and model of your rig is helpful, but I still think that everything else should be optional.

I think blood type and hat size should be mandatory ... everything else is unimportant.

I guess we all have our ideas about what's important. I think members of the Freewheelers should have to list their shoe size...

I got it!
I can see it now. The hotest thing to hit Airstreaming. New seminars on self defense and survivalism, with a bonus workshop, smiling faces don't always tell the truth.

Things just haven't been the same since I left Nigeria I mean Jackalope Falls...
65 my (2) wimpy disloyal dogs were wondering since you're going past Michigan to summerkid's house would you mind bringing a few more steaks? They'll meet you at the rest stop on the border...
Thank goodness the meatloaf recipes are back! That might be nice this time of year with mac and cheese (homemade), potatoes and gravy, and mmm sweet potato casserole. Welcome Mike!
You know I was concerned about being considered rude versus being careful of internet identity theft, etc. I did look it up on netiquette and there wasn't anything there about hat size and blood type, so I guess I'll follow grandma's advice and remember that its not 'ladylike' to monopolize the bandwidth/conversation with too many details about oneself. Silvermoon,
Amen! Its not vanity, we get "profiled" the minute they find out our age. 21 is good, it worked for grandma, and great grandma, and now it works for me!
I did like that 'smiling faces' reference Motown!!, I lived there before we moved to Nigeria, I mean Jackalope Falls, oh dear I've said too much...

Welcome Mikey!
2air' -- Certain fields only require that you put something in there. Mine has general info for region but no specifics. My balloon on the members map points directly to mid-stream of a nearby river.
I'd go back to Silvertwinkie's statement that the only truthful thing in his profile is that he's a White Sox fan. Wonder how he is on da Bears?
