Preparing for a Rally!!!
As I get ready for the Florida forums can opener rally, I seem to realize there is a lot to be packed kinda different from a regular weekend camp-out. As I plunder on what to take and not to take. First of all the fall tablecloths need to be unpacked as for all the other fall items from the Mississippi get together. The flamingos stay of course as for all the awning party lights. For the last few day's I have purchased some new tropical decor for the campsite and for some reason Jimmy Buffet keeps coming up, seems as though parrots are on my mind
This is the first large rally we have attended and it seems to have been a great choice for our first.
So all you full time ralliers lets here what you take to a rally, tell some fun adventures you have had at a rally, and some mistakes you may have made.

Your really going to have to put more effort into getting excited about going.
Stop sleeping at night...
Clean and pack...
Set up a 'dry camp' in your yard. (test everything)

Provision, provision, provision! Don't want to leave an unpacked inch in the Airstream. What if you get there and you forgot. . .! No, . . .pack lightly. Take your biggest smiles, warmest greetings, chairs for new friends around your campfire, and of course, marshmallows and your beverage of choice for "toasting." Have a great rally! ~G

Camera, Video, Music, Books
Don't forget the big four - camera, video, music, and your favorite books. The OTHER big four also are crucial to a good time - a welcoming smile, an open mind, a child's curiosity, and a thankful heart!
Take lots of pictures. We are all there with you guys in spirit!

It depends on the rally. I have to pack all of our kitsch when we go to the Tin Can Tourist rally in Deming - people go all out decorating their trailers and campsites with vintage items. We'll bring along the pink flamingos and thier white picket fence "pen", the good chairs, tablecloths, vintage display pieces, and vintage magazines & maps for the magazine rack. I don't bother with that for regular camping! For rallies in general, we like to bring extra of just about everything - chairs, wine, propane, etc.
Don't forget your camera!

Bring your mugs you'll be walking around with them,if you have a coffee maker keep it full, decorate your AS everyone will be wanting a tour, bring lots of quick snacks to grab and bring out. I always seem to run out. Mark your chairs with your name you'd be surprised how easy it is to go off and forget them.Portable tables are a good idea too. If you can get from point A to point B without being sidetracked into yet another AS, you're more determined than I.
And new to my list, after reading the ettiquette thread, slip off shoes for tours. (I never knew. :-0) Perhaps some trailer trash socks would be the thing for santa to bring.

called the park; bathing suits are not allowed...
and swimming suits are optional...
so following klattu's advice above...
we all need to run around in the yard naked with a tooth brush...
somewhere near an airstream...
wearing trailer trash socks and carrying a tiki torch...

Only if you are a member of the polar bear club. Florida in January is still January, and the water is pretty chilly, unless you luck into one of the spring-fed lakes with a constant year-round temp. Then again, maybe I live too far South to enjoy winter swimming activities.

If anyone saw me and my toothbrush jogging around my Airstream sans clothes, I would be fitted with a straightjacket so fast it would make my tiki socks twirl.

For me they would fit me with a pair of "straight-pants" before the straight-jacket!

Hey Beck....I would bring wet weather clothes, ya never no... we are always hoping for the best on our outings but I think we have yet to go out and not see at least one day of rain at a rally.
Second thing according to your itinerary ....don't forget the limes! If Jimmy Buffet, Flamingos and tropical decor are in the mix...the next thing to follow are Margaritas!
Have a ton of fun!!! and drive safe!!!
