I think I'm coming down with roomatism

Bedroom, living room, laundry room, bathroom, kitchen.
Knocking around inside the house. One room to another.
Not much to do.
Dark when you leave for work. Work in a room. Dark when you get home. Too cold to go camping or fix my Airstream. Snow.
Could dust my wife's knick knacks I suppose.
Never did learn to darn socks.
Anybody getting sick of those four walls and it aint even Christmas yet?
Maybe roomatism is just a precursor to cabin fever in February and March when being crabby and fighting and raising a ruckus here on the forum is ok. Even expected.
Except now you're still supposed to be Merry about it all.
Even if youre a little bored.
Go ahead and call me deluded or something so I can call you an upstart and a fool
Get a little invective going so the roomatism don't set in.

I am so very glad that I live near the Gulf Coast where campgrounds are open year-round and winter camping is possible! Even the cold snaps here are warm compared to the great frozen north— like Minnesota.

In fact, I haven't even needed to winterize my Airstream yet, because the last cold snap occurred while I was camping, and according to the long-range forecast, the next cold snap will occur while I'm camping. A cold snap in New Orleans doesn't matter if I'm not in New Orleans!

But one year I had to winterize five times, because all of the cold snaps occurred in between camping trips instead of during them…

And we in Arizona are also getting into great camping season. Because we still work we don't get out of state with our Airstream during the year as often as we would like.

But I concur with the roomitisim.

Dark when I go to work, dark when I come home. We do not observe Daylight Savings time so sometimes when it gets dark you think your day is done.

In the summer when we do have light evenings it's so darn hot you don't even want to be outside anymore.

I love reading about the winterization, long pants, blustery days and seeing Maggie's beautiful fireplace. All while are still wearing are shorts and t-shirts.

Not complaints just observations.

Here in Florida the weather is just getting nice. (70-80 f.)
I'm getting the itch to go somewhere, and then I realize it's probably snowing where I want to explore. I don't want to wait until spring!!!

Well at least today is the winter solstice so at least daylight hours will start to get better from here!

The days are shorter.
It gets dark earlier.
Drive to work in the headlights.
Drive home from work in the headlights.
Today is winter solstice, though.
Each day will get a minute and a half longer till we are camping again in March and daylight savings time causes an extra hour of daylight in the evenings...
I think the holidays were designed at this time of year to help us through the winter blahs.
At least 6 camping trips for 2018 already planned...

At least we do have a 4 day Christmas weekend followed by a 3 day New Year's weekend to look forward to...
Then it's work, work, work till vacation in April and Memorial Day in May...

Video games! I grew up in Alaska and roomatism affects just about everyone during those dark winter months. People either drank the dark away, played video games, watched TV, or chased moose (true Alaskans and they usually were a bit off to begin with). Considering the health and financial repercussions of drinking, video games have a slight edge :-)

Just got back from walking the dogs. It’s 80 here on the space coast of Florida. Thank you for reminding me of why I moved here. Seasonal Depression Disorder is very real and I do understand how you feel. Try turning on all the lights and bumping up the heat a couple of degrees if at all possible. There are special lights that can also be used that are very effective. My hat is off to all of you who have to deal with real winter weather, I don’t think I could do it, I thought ATL weather was bad enough.

Only good thing about a chilly dark evening is it makes the backyard fire, yup at home that much nicer.

I got a few big hollow logs that are better to watch the chimney effect as they burn than a TV.

We don't even have an Airstream (yet), but we plan on living in it when it gets cold here (Canada - so I'm talking really cold!) and driving wherever it's just right. It's my firm belief that you should drive to snow when you need it and it should never fall on your head.

Today here in Greenwood, MS is actually nice.
It's the up and down yo-yo temperatures that get me.
Cold. Hot. Cold. Hot.
All in the same week...
Will be 73 tomorrow, but then will only get into the 40's and 50's for 2 weeks after that.
Just as 100% humidity here makes the heat feel worse, it also makes the cold feel worse- like it bites into your bones and joints.
An overcast, drizzly day is the worst.
Overcast days in the 50's and 60's seem to never really be warm.
Sunshine makes all the difference, but is rare this time of year here.

Bitchin' about the weather is a God-given right of every Airstreamer who isn't able to enjoy the weather with his or her Airstream. Doesn't matter if the temperature is 8° or 80°, sunshine, rain, or snow, if you ain't Airstreaming, the weather is horrible. If you are Airstreraming, then the weather is just fine (though even then sometimes it could be better…).

Well, I have a little roomatism, but at least its from home. The good thing about working from home is avoiding the dark drive to work and then back home in the dark. When the rommatism gets too bad, I just throw on my winter weather gear and take the dog for a walk in the mountains. The comparison makes the home feel real toasty!

My point is...
This weather is just as miserable for us as your 10 degrees and snow is to you.
You quite possibly don't have the bone aching 100% humidity.
Every temperature above 75 is hot.
Every temperature below 65 is cold.
We seldom see temperatures from 65 to 75...
We spend a lot of time waiting...
Waiting for it to get warm enough...
Waiting for it to get cool enough...
Waiting for the days to get longer...
Waiting for it to quit raining...
That shed won't never git cleaned out...

I started working outdoors, when I was 6 years old, helping my dad sort pop bottles out of the snow. I have worked outdoors, as a service station flunky/owner/mechanic since spending a year in the weather of "beautiful" Vietnam. I can justifiably say I HATE wintertime. In the summer, if you get too hot, you can always remove clothing, go to the nearest water hose or mud hole and cool off, if you get too cold, you remain too cold. If it's too cold to camp, ride motorcycles, and play golf, count me out and headed south!
