Anyone want to swap trailers?

I have a 1961 Tradewind that is in mostly original condition. It's in pretty good shape for a 47 year old, but does need some things like a new water heater, a/c, and furnace. The skin is in good shape, and it has brand new tires. I just need to face reality and admit that I'm not going to finish this project the way it should be finished. A new job and nowhere near enough time or money to do it justice leaves me with little choice. I really need something I can take my kids camping in now before the season is over.

Basically, I'm looking to make an even trade for another Airstream, 20-29', any year, that is ready to go camping. It doesn't have to be anything spectacular, just servicable enough to hook up and enjoy a weekend or two before winter. If you're interested, PM or e-mail me for more details and pictures. I'm in the Richmond, VA area but I'm willing to drive a bit if necessary to make the deal.

Nice looking tradewind. You should put an ad in the classifieds section, you'll likely get some takers.

Thanks, I'll check that out, but I'd really prefer to swap rather than sell outright & have to find another trailer. I thought I'd start here in hopes that another user who had been listening to too much VAP was yearning for a "real" vintage trailer.

Hey NoMo,
Nice to have another Virginian in the family. We lived in the RIC area for about 35 yrs and then went southwest.
Good luck with the swap.

There's no such thing. I wish the episodes came out bi-weekly.

would you take a "partial trade"? GREAT ventilation, and light as a feather!

I often thought about a swap. I dont think I want a single axle though. I would like to find a rear bedroom 27 footer though.

You have a nice unit and someone has got to want it

Ford, I thought you were going to offer to swap for that '08 Safari!
So you moved up the James, huh? Lynchburg is beautiful. I have good friends that live in Bedford, so we usually go into Lynchburg when we visit them.

Ah, you're one of the guys responsible for this. I so innocently bought a vintage trailer knowing nothing about them, naiively thinking I'd be camping in a week... sheesh. Now months later (months!) I'm downloading podcasts and contemplating a shell-off restoration! I swear I think there's something subliminal in that catchy "Trailer Park Troubadors" theme music- for some reason now I can't possibly sleep until I pour every spare minute and dime I have into this tin can to come close to holding a candle to your shiny examples.... Come on, man... I just want to go camping!!!

Yeah, but I'd need at least half up front. Oh wait, looks like you'd qualify.

That's how I ended up with 3! You see, you need to tackle this LOGICALLY! You need one to fiddle with, one to camp in, and one lined up for the future! Still doesn't stop me from looking, though. HA!

Thanks for the pm and the email. Allie (wife) is very interested in this even though it will undoubtedly sit covered for awhile until I finish the Overlander to my desires.

I replied to your email and look forward to hearing from you. Many have seen my Argosy and can vouch for it's ability to go camping now. I will say that we thought it was a little too small for us. The only reason I offer it to you is that it has the same amount of beds that your Tradewind has and if you think yours is enough, then mine is enough for you. (did that make sense?)

She's now in the classifieds, though I would REALLY prefer to swap for another Airstream... I'm missing out on some great camping weekends now...

You should keep it- Tradewinds are awesome. "Biggest of the little and the littlest of the big."
