Airstream Central website is for sale
I just found out Airstream Central is for sale. The buyer gets the domain name, full access to all of the website, the bulletin board, want ads and all sections within the website.

Looks like a blind bid situation. Who know what he wants for it.

I can't imagine anyone bidding big bucks for it.
Take a look at the activity in the forum ... not much going on.
Kenny hasn't updated that sight in a long long time.
Didn't he buy it from someone about 2 years ago?

May the Nightmare never happen here.
Any news on what has happened over there?
Actually we think it is sad to see it fail.
It just never got the traction of this one, and the format (software) was a little less friendly.
As I recall the owner was a salesman at Paul Sherry RV up in the Ohio area.
Made the mistake of charging for membership for a short period, and that soured many of the users.
Surprisingly a number ponied up some dough.
Wonder what they think now?
However IOHO members here should not gloat too quick. This great forum could disappear at any time at the whim of the owner.
As we have seen the best made sites of mice and men often go away.
Good intentions and today's promises not withstanding;..Sudden disappearance often happens in cyberdom.
That is a unmanageable (by the membership) risk when anything is privately owned.
Woe be the day.

That website used to be the hottest Airstream Website out there. It was a little difficult to use and when they started charging to be a member, it killed it.
Way way back I did pay to be a member - that was back in the old days when Charlie Burke was giving technical advice. There weren't too many of us restoring Airstreams back then.
My how things change......

The Site won't load anymore.

Don't worry, our community will always be FREE! Just as an FYI - I contacted Airstream Cental, RJ Dial from the VAC, Hunter Hampton from the Yahoo Group, even Airstream prior to starting this forum. No one even responded to my suggestion that better tools be setup for fellow streamers. Since I owned 2 servers I figured why not build it myself. And what a joy it has been. Once the photo site is fixed you will se lots of new enhancements. Upgraded software then some awesome custom scripts designed specifically for Airstream enthusiasts.
I have to go, off to a meeting...
Andy

You do a fantastic job, Andy! I often refer people to this site to explain what I would like to see in a real, usable, online community. It's really just outstanding. That's what happens when knowledgable enthusiasts really step up to the plate. Thanks for doing all this for us!
