I was on the interlux site and noticed a primer for less than perfect paint, such as chipped or cracked that should be used before applying the top coat/finish. Do you know if, when applied, it actually covers these chips and cracks? Is it best to just bite the bullet and strip the current finish?

So who did you go with and how much did it end up costing? Did you do the caulking after the paint? Here are a few of my suggestions on a new name, I was thinking 'Steeling it' Wikipedia suggests that 'Flotilla' may be a good name. How about 'Stayin Silver' or 'The Steel Tiger' I want to do my 1976 24' Argosy the same color as you did because your trailer looks great or maybe the same color as my 2013 Dodge diesel grey but then again it is a '76' so I may have to do a red white and blue theme, I can't decide yet.

You would be amazed at how good you can make a rattle can spray job look on an Argosy. Certainly not the beautiful job posted in the photos earlier in the thread, complete with clear coat, but pretty acceptable in my eyes.

I have done most of my '74 Argosy with Krylon rattle can spray paint. Lots of very thin coats is the way to go, and paint only on low humidity days in the mid 70's but not in the sun.

Yes, a lot of cans of paint, but even 40 o4 50 cans at $4 a can is under $200 for the paint. 100 cans would be around $400.

Again, my results are good in my eyes, not new car gloss quality of course, but no one has ever looked at my Argosy and said it was ugly, or needed a paint job. Maybe they are just being nice though....

We wanted to do something with our trailer when we saw this thread. The finished pic's showed us that it could be done. We did all the prep work and a truck shop did the paint job. $3,500.00 later and lots of hours, this is where we started and finished.

Very nice. Looks great. How much work went into the prep?

We did some extra body work on the tail lights and then started slapping on the paint stripper. It goes pretty slow, no quick way around it. Slow and stead wins this race.

I like the paint job and i really like what you did with your tail lights. I plan on doing something similar. I don't like the plastic taillight setup on argosies
