Ok, how about a double-0 for Otero, NM. There are a couple of them, neither one of which still exists as a town. The one I have in mind is a very, very old one in Valencia County south of Albuquerque. I'll just copy and paste in the story from ghosttowns.com:

PS: Since I'm reading The Grapes of Wrath, and Los Lunas is mentioned, I'll note that a long, long time after Otero was around, but before 1938, Route 66 used to pass through Los Lunas. You can still travel a section of the pre-realignment Route 66 by traveling west out of Los Lunas. It'll lead you a-r-o-u-n-d and up to I40 (the more modern reincarnation of post-realignment Route 66).

Oh, a G must be for Glorieta, NM. Its historical significance is pretty interesting.
In order to break the Union blockade, which was surely killing the Confederacy, the leadership decided to open up a way to ship goods to the west coast, opening up a port there to ship their goods out. An expeditionary force was sent out from Texas. The endeavor ended in failure at Glorieta, New Mexico, where Union forces under the leadership of John Shivington (whose notorious fame came later when he massacred a large number of peaceful Native Americans) defeated the southern force.
