Help ID these wheels

Can anyone please identify these wheels that are currently on my 74 Argosy 26 ft. I have seen same or close on a mid seventies Airstream but not sure if they were oem
I am looking into replacing my axles with Dexters and wondering if I go with new hubs with studs and lug nuts instead of the bolts I currently have, will I be able to use these wheels.

I believe they are made by Alcoa but not 100% sure

The wheels in pics. posted are not mid 70. AS wheels were alcoas but no spoked wheels such as pics. they had slots. New some AS have same type but have holes, I don't recall how many slots or holes but I have 76 alcoas and another set after market that are like some models have now. I can't look for how many slots or holes as AS in storage. I believe new axles come w/studs instead of bolts, I prefer studs w/nuts over bolts. If wheels you have are 0 offset no reason wont work w/new axles. Also I don't remember a spoke type on market in 70s era, all aluminum [mags] were more solid const.

Look like late 90s - mid 2000s Alcoas. Be careful... Most if not all of these rims crack and become unusable. Much better choices for safety than these.
Look to the inside under the gunk for mfgr name and specs.

Wow, thanks for the great replies guys.The wheels pictured are what came on it and are in great shape but I am really wanting to try and stay with the mid 70’s era look as the Argosy was pretty much restored as original AND we will be towing part time with a ‘79 Buick Estate Wagon. I actually bought a set of original wheels and a set of mid seventies Argosy wheel covers. Had the wheels media blasted and all but one had cracks. The spring steel clips on the wheel covers were so weak from rust I know the wouldn’t stay on long going down the road. So after that expensive learning venture I am back to zero and considering options.
Period correct covers are scarce, expensive and I fear a repeat of my previous experience. Considered ordering 5x4.75 hubs on new axles and using a set of vintage Buick rally wheels as are on the wagon. But I’d prefer something correct to mid 70’s Argosy or at least Airstream.
Opinions, thoughts, advice welcome. Again thanks for the above responses.

Make sure whatever wheel you choose is rated at least as high as the tires you will be using.
Automotive wheels are not always rated as high in both weight and max psi as trailer wheels.

If you can get a 3/4" deep well socket wrench in the counter bore hole you should be ok also on the back side of the wheel should be stamped with all the specs on the wheel as far as size capacity and offset . Those don't look like Alcoa wheels if they are they will be marked on the back side .

If the wheel has beveled holes like most “bolt on” wheels then a typical stud and beveled lug nut should work fine.

Your trailer/tow vehicle combination is absolutely Fantastic! I learned to drive in an early 1970s Buick station wagon, and wish that I still had that car. I believe that I recognize your wheels as being very similar, if not identical, to the ones that I had installed on my 1964 Overlander in the early Spring of 2009. They are not Alcoa, but I cannot remember the manufacturer. There appears to be a version that is still being manufactured at this link.



This is the wheel that I have on my '64 Overlander.

P.S.: I went with these wheels after two decades of trying to keep my mid-1970s Airstream wheelcovers on the wheels. I lost count of the times that I saw campers in my rear view mirrors waving at me to indicate that my coach had thrown a wheelcover in slow-speed maneuvers in a campground -- where the coach seemed to be most likely to throw a wheelcover for some reason.

Thanks, we are looking forward to traveling and towing the south in the wagon and using either my Silverado 1500 HD or my wifes 17 Tahoe for up north and mountainous westward travels.
Yep I've heard lots of stories of lost AS wheel covers and considering what they are currently selling for will likely consider something else. I like the looks of the wheels you pictured and they appear to be the same as mine, I'd just like something a little more period correct.

No big hurry, as our first trip is planned for the Okefenokee in March.

You will be the talk of the campground when you pull in with your Buick towing the Argosy. I made a trip from Southern Illinois to Wyoming in 2008 with my 1975 Eldorado Convertible towing my 1978 Argosy Minuet -- the combination drew attention nearly everywhere we stopped. The old Cadillac made the trip without an issue -- on its shakedown cruise with the Minuet a week before departing on the great adventure, it experienced a failed alternator that was less than a month old so it was replaced under warranty and my AAA Plus RV paid for the tow to the repair shop. Another thing if you change wheels make sure not only rated for weight also offset because won't fit in wheel wells plus possible clearance to drums. Follow up to my prev. post alcoa aluminum wheels used in 70s had 5 slots, but standard wheels were steel.

I had a set of these on our '63's steel wheels...fit the period and looked kool. You can also get brushed aluminum, but I've found the stainless to be more durable with stronger retaining clips.
