2002 Classic 15" wheels-new lug nuts

Well, I tossed the funky two-piece crummy lug nuts from As and replaced them all with solid lug nuts; cost a total of $20. I suggest you all do the same. Big hassle if you ever strip the outer skin on the 2-piece, believe me. I do need the torque suggested for the lug nuts if anyone knows that off hand. I believe it's 80 lbs. I bought a new Sears torque wrench just for my AS and am looking at a 3,000 mile trip in a week or so. Thanks for the info in advance.

I did mine on my 2005 Safari 15" factory wheels to 110 lbs. I hope that was correct. I did find the information on line.

The one below shows a 115 for my wheels seems to be a moving target.

Here is what the manual says:

[QUOTE

WARNING
: It is also important to periodically check on the tightness of lug nuts. On

aluminum wheels they should he tightened to a torque of 85 ft. pounds. Steel wheels should be torque
to 95 Ft. Lbs. Care should he taken at all times when handling the wheel because of possible damage
to its appearance.
