TV = 2013 F150 Super Crew short bed (5.5') no max tow or HD payload. Payload sticker is #1,642 - GVWR of #7,100
TT = tandem axle 27'
1966 Avion - no weight placards, but axles are both Dexter #3,500 -
leaf springs
Trailer weight is 5,100 per scales - ready to camp
Tongue weight is # 540 - ready to camp - a bit light, but I will address that separately
Hitch is a round bar Husky WD with a single friction sway bar added.
PO gave me #800-#1,200 bars with the hitch
I get good WD back to the front axle (less than 50% of no WD rise) with 6 links, and have ability to add one more washer for tilt. Bars end up parallel to ground when set. Trailer is about 1/4" nose low.
It tows great......but,
Seems these #800-#1,200 WD bars are overkill.......?
(Avion frame is "stouter" than AS )
There is no "bend" discernible on the WD bars when hooked up.
Should I go for lighter bars?
I usually don't carry much weight at all in the TV bed rear of the axle.
I'm thinking the #500- #800 would be a better match?
