Pro Series 600 lb tongue Weight?? Looking for some help

Found a 1965 Ambassador picking up Saturday. Wanted to know if I can use the weight distribution hitch that I bought for my Jayco trailer or is there a better choice for Airstreams. My current distribution hitch is a Pro Series 600 lb weight distribution hitch. Not sure if it makes a difference. All I know is I want to prevent it from being beaten apart as I travel down the road without enough give in the supension of my 2007 Toyota Tacoma Tow vehicle. Interested in everyones thoughts on the subject

I would try out the new trailer with your present hitch and see how it does. The 600-pound weight-distribution bars would seem to be OK, depending on the capabilities of your tow vehicle.

Bars of this size work well for many people. They may technically be a little light for your tongue weight (but I don't know what your trailer's tongue weigh is), but they probably transfer enough weight to get you in the ballpark for your tow vehicle (but I don't know what the capabilities of your tow vehicle is).

Make sure that you have a sway-control system installed too. I have a friction sway-control bar on each side of my hitch which work quite well for me.

I was informed that for my 71 Overlander that weight bars between 600 and 800 pounds would be fine. IMHO, since Airstream's like a soft touch, I would think the 600 bars would be a good combination in your case. I am sure, as others chime in, you will get a multitude of information.

I see some people suggest sway bars too. are these recommended in addition to
weight distribution bars?

The specifications listed for the hitch that you are considering indicate that it has built-in sway control. I approach my sway control (Reese Strait-Line with Dual Cam Sway Control) as a standard part of my safety equipment. Your trailer/tow vehicle combination would likely benefit from a hitch with built-in sway control.
