Stainless steel ball helps?

Hi Streamers,
In the first year of ownership, the hitch released easy-peasy every time.
Now, in the second year, each unhitching is a marathon session of up, down, forward, back and bonking things with a stabilizer bar.
I've sprayed lots of lube into the hitch and on the ball. All the parts seem to moving ok.
One difference this year is that the chrome on the ball has flaked off, leaving a rusty surface. I wonder if a stainless steel ball would help:

Thoughts? Thanks!

Are you greasing the ball every time before you hitch up? If not, you should be.

If the chrome is flaking off so quickly, the ball is pretty poorly made. Replace it and grease the new one.

Thanks, Gene and Rocinante. You were right: greasing the ball made unhitching much easier. Many thanks!
