We're a pair of 2006's now!

So two weeks ago as I was backing our old Dodge up to the Airstream for a weekend get away and the seal in the gearbox gave out and dumped all the power steering fluid all over our driveway!

Luckily our neighbor was kind enough to loan us his truck for the weekend so not all was lost!

Our Dodge is basically a polished up old ranch truck and I think we are just asking too much of it to reliably tow the Airstream long distances. For a $4500 truck it has been good to us however since our recent upgrade to the 2006 25' Safari the time has come to upgrade the tow vehicle as well.

Last weekend I ran across a 2006 Ford F-250 4x4, only 65K miles on the clock and basically every option available that year for a very reasonable price. The only problem was it was 6 hours away up in the high desert of Southern California. After a few conversations with the owner and a good 50+ pictures email to us we decided to fly down to the closest airport and hope he was as honest as he sounded on the phone. As luck would have it, the truck was gorgeous! The current owner bought it brand new and had records of every service, oil change, repair from day one!

Needless to say we bought it on the spot and made the 6 hour drive home!

I have to admit I was impressed with the power of the diesel and the 18 MPG was a huge improvement over our old V-10!

I can't wait to get the Airstream behind it in two weeks for the Pinnacles Rally and see what it tows like!

So much life left, I bet it is happy to have a new set of parents that will take it on many an adventure.

I bought a new GMC 2500HD in the anticipation of the arrival of our new build 2014 30ft FC, we just got the call and it is at the dealer after a five month wait. Anxious to experience the coupling of our diesel and AS. All is good when the pair match up right no matter the age miles, enjoy your new journeys together. Maybe we will see you our way down the road.
