Ah, that sounds more appropriate.

You might try tuning your WD to totally eliminate the use of airbags. Bags are designed to assist sagging springs on soft trucks. You certainly don't have a soft truck. When used for towing, they disguise an out of balance truck. It only makes it look better. It may improve handling much more than you'd think with the WD tuned in, and the air bags down to 5 lbs.

You don't see Tundras on the side of the road, either.
You don't see many Tundras in the junkyard, either.
Don't believe me?
Look around.
The used Tundras I see are lease turn-ins.

Lol where I live you don't see them, period. Just wondering where they all go?

Toyota Tundra 1/2 ton tow vehicle

I see plenty here in the south.
Supposedly the F150 is the top-selling truck, but I see just as many GM and Ram.
Sales is maybe ranked like this:
1. Ford
2. GM
3. Ram
4. Toyota
5. Nissan
But...
Toyota is supposedly the largest automaker in the world, with GM coming in 2nd or 3rd and Ford coming in at about 6th place and Fiat/Chrysler near the bottom of the list.

The 5.7L Tundra is a great 1/2 ton tow vehicle. They changed the appearance slightly in 2014, I believe, but left the drivetrain alone. That is pretty amazing after a 7 year run. That fact and the Tundra's reliability keep the resale value high.

I will say that after a long search for a Tundra Ltd Crew Cab used I threw in the towel and went with the Costco new car program. Most of the trucks I saw had too many miles for too short a time period, and there were few and far between. And the others had been repoed which made me nervous.

None were a serious value so I'll be getting a new on at the end of the month exactly like I wanted it built.

I have a now 10 year old Tundra Limited Crewmax that I bought used with 8,000 miles 9 years ago.
The only way to find Tundras used is lease turn-ins or worn out.
My truck now has 57,000 miles.

There are three on the lot at the dealer where I bought my F350. They are a little earlier years, but still look good.

The first generation Tundras with the 4.7 were great vehicles, but did not have the payload and towing capacity of the 2nd generation Tundras from 2007 on.
I still see plenty of 1st generation Tundras towing travel trailers up to 28'.
Mine is the first of the 2nd generation. Only a styling update in 2014 since then. Engine, transmission, and rear end still the same.
The Tundra is due for a styling update.
Will the new Tundra have less payload and towing capacity to try to get better mpg?
Or will they pull a rabbit out of a hat and make more payload and towing capacity AND better fuel economy?
Hmm...
I can't wait to see, but with 57,000 miles I won't be trading anytime soon.

I'm still hoping for the Tundra deisel with 2,000lbs of payload

I know, I know wishful thinking. The Titan XD is very similar to what was supposed to be in the Tundra deisel and they cannot come close to the 2,000lb payload mark.

I don't quite get the niche that the Titan XD diesel is supposed to be filling...
A very expensive, kinda sorta ugly 1/2 ton truck with a gooseneck ball in the bed that gets lackluster fuel economy...

The closest you'll get with a Titan XD is a SV trim version without the Comfort and Convenience package. That would get you slightly over 1800# of payload.

That is the diesel version. The gas version in that configuration is over 2400#.

There's nothing to that.
It is exactly the same photos and write-up for the supposed 2008 diesel dually Tundra.

I guess Toyota had a 3.2ish liter diesel in a Tundra test mule. Doesn't mean a lot other than that they have played around with it. If they ever do it I would be perusing a Toyota lot.

The only problem is that you would be standing in line behind me

The 3.2L sounds interesting, because the only thing I have heard deisel related has been the 5.0L Cummins....

Elsewhere in the world, Toyota sells Land Cruisers with 4.5L diesel V8. 268 hp, 479 torque. That's enough power to pull your trailer to the summit.

My short experience with 2007 Tundra 5.7L Double cab (bought in Dec.) Great daily driver. Rides nice, smooth, handles excellent! With 4 adults, everyone has plenty of room. We found when going out on the town with 4 adults, we take the Toyota over our Honda & BMW. However, parking can be a challenge cause it's a big truck! We bought this truck just for towing but enjoy it more than our other cars. Tows great behind 25' classic.

Have any of you guys looked into adding fuel capacity? Not a lot I would change on a Tundra, but better mpg, or a bigger gas tank would be one. I think I read somewhere it was $2,000 to add a tank. Seems pretty steep. Especially for the few times you would actually need it.

The new Tundras have an optional 36 gallon tank.
