Looking at buying a 2015 Laramie and have no idea what a dealer will be willing to drop the price on a low volume truck of this type. Looking for real world experience.

I talked with my local dealer and a nearby larger volume dealer a few days ago. Both trucks msrp on sticker was $55k. One was a 2500 Laramie 4x4 with 6.4 Hemi. One was a 3500 SLT with Cummins.

Both salesman while chatting on lot after the test drives told me about the same thing. Said I could buy truck for high 40's. One of the sales rep said out the door for $50k. That's without haggling, I wasn't asking about prices, nothing. So better deals could be had I'm sure.

Also, I'm going to buy a 2500 mega cab soon. Ordering a 2016. I've read, although I know nothing, that the 2016's are being manufactured now and will hit lots in next month or two. It would seem logical that when that time comes, the 2015's will be priced even better. May be worth checking into.

I bought my 2500 Cummins around this time of year. They had "Dodge Days" and were knocking $2500 the diesels and $4500 off the HEMI's. Mine is a 2004 1/2 (mid year change, basically a 2005) and I bought it just as the 2005's were hitting the lots. Mine was built in June of 2004...but anyway they knocked $2500 off it for the sale.

I got lucky also in that the place I was currently working bought all their fleet vehicles from Chrysler. This dealership knew about that and offered me this "special" discount that Chrysler offered employees of companies that did that. Anyway, they knocked another $5500 off for that. So, with $8000 off the MSRP, I was almost able to afford it

After six years of $613 per month and trading in a Ford Excursion and paying them a chunk down in cash, it was mine. I've owned it for almost eleven years now. So far, it's been trouble free. I've been very happy with it. Would have liked a mega cab, but they didn't come out until after I'd bought mine. Were I buying now, I'd certainly want one.

There seems to be more Ram 2500 Cummins on the lots around here than F250s 6.7L and Chevy 2500HD Duramax and are priced online more aggressively.

I wasn't too happy with my Plymouth Voyager and Dodge Carvan back in the 90s and vowed never to buy another Chrysler product. But the Ram seems to be more bang for your buck, the same reason we went with the Chrysler minivans 20 years ago. Will I be disappointed again or is 3rd time is a charm.

I was wondering about the 4 wheel gear shift on the floor on some of the Tradesman models. They have the 6 speed automatic but the 4x4 is a stick coming out the floor. If you are driving in 2wd and need to shift to 4wd do you have to stop to put it in 4x4? The electronic shift option is only $250. Doesn't seem worth it to get the 4x4 on the floor.

I may look at some Ram 2500 Cummins next week. Either Tradesman or SLT. I read in the 2015 2500 brochure the crew cabs are on a 149" wb which makes the truck the same length as a F250 SuperCab and GM 2500HD Duramax Double Cab yet the Ram has more back seat room, which seems equivalent to GM and Fords Crew Cabs but they are on a longer wheel base and overall longer, but the Ram crew cab still has a 6' 4" bed. How do they do it? Is the engine compartment shorter than the GM and Ford models? The Crewcab is appealing because of its shorter length.

We don't really need the space of a Mega Cab. There is only the two of us and we never have passengers plus its on a longer wheel base.

The Ram Crewcab seems to be a good compromise on payload and size. I like that the DEF fill is in the same location as the diesel fuel fill. GM still has you crawl into the engine compartment to put DEF in the tank. Ford does it in the fuel fill area but has a smaller fuel tank. The Ram has a 31 gal which not as good as the Duramax 36 put still better than F250 unless you go long bed.

One question about Uconnect. If you want to the navigation do you have to have a monthly subcription or can you download it later for a one time fee?

I just bought a used 2014 2500 Larine Cummings 4 x 4 with 26,000 miles on it for $47,500 with all the fancy accessories including leather, backup camera, air-conditioned seats etc. etc. etc. Love it!!!!!!!!

Just ask to see the invoice and tell them you'll buy it for $500 under invoice. They still make a bunch on what is known as "hold back" money that the dealer makes even at the invoice price.

Times are changing and so has the vehicle purchase process. Let the dealers compete for your business! Draw up your wish/feature list, then get bids via the internet from sources like shopclickdrive.com, truecar.com, edmunds.com, carsdirect.com, and/or auto buying services from AARP, Costco, etc., and choose the best/ least cost alternative.

I bought my Ram this way and saved almost $12,000 off the sticker. I did have to drive to the winning dealership 90 miles away. Arrival to vehicle inspection, test drive, and paperwork complete was about 50 minutes as everything was ready to go without any hassle or "up selling."

Regarding the subscription stuff, whatever it is Dodge has, the salesman told me it was free for 5 years. Seems it was 3G hotspot, the cheap gas finder, movie theaters, and similar Apps. I'm not fully informed on this yet. But he said free so I quit listening. Something to read up on.

You might inquire if any of these vehicles are coming up as expiring for dealer flooring. It means that if the vehicle has been on the lot for 6 months the dealer has to buy it and pay his personal interest rather than the manufacturer. So there is a very good chance that he wants to make a quick sale at a greatly reduced price. I bought my Dodge Cummins that way with many dealer and factory incentives which made it much cheaper than the gas models. Still driving it and approaching 200K miles. Very pleased.

I got one of the last 2012 Dodge 2500HD Cummins HO 4x4 crew cab that met the criteria I wanted for towing (reverse camera, heated towing mirrors and the reverse sensor for when the wife drives it). The model I found had all the options and color I would have ordered plus some. The vehicle was built in June of 2012 and I bought in January 2013 . The list was the mid 50s and it sold for the low 40s.

It came with Michelin tires so I did not even have to do a tire swap.

The savings plus more $$ were used to complete extensive modifications.

I bought a new 2013 2500 Diesel for $11K off MSRP. I searched every dealership's web site in the 4 local states. some had sales price on the type i wanted listed (others just provided MSRP - which is useless). I found the lowest one and called and started to negotiate, but did not get them down to where i wanted to be (but closer). Then I called the biggest dealership (i.e. largest dealership with biggest inventory) - identified I could get what i wanted for XX (i.e. at the previous dealership) - and identified i would go with them if they could come down to my desired AMOUNT. They wanted proof on the competitors offer, and i gave them the VIN and dealer / salesman's name; and they came back in a few hours and met my number. Did this all over the phone. I needed to drive ~300 miles to pick it up - but that was actually kind of fun. So -- I think if you can get $10K off MSRP or more - you are getting a real real good deal. Also - i could not get any of the local dealers in the Seattle area to give me move than $5K off MSRP (and i suspect because they have limited inventory - and demand is still big).

its been several years ago that i bought a 2003 dodge ram 2500 cummins 2wd on the internet. it was a left over , but equipped exactly like i wanted even the right color. sticker at that time 34900. drove it home for 24500 plus 264.00 for amtrack tickets for wife and i. also, when i closed the deal i got them to throw in the shop mauals.

I bought a '14 2500 Laramie 4x4 CC w/Cummins specifically for towing. AWESOME! In every respect. I've towed about 25,000 miles with it -- first pulling a '12 28' Intl CCD and most recently a '15 Classic. The 2500 has tons of torque, Rocky Mtns were like foothills...and the exhaust brake is fantastic. Strongly recommend you go online and checkout Dodge/Ram/Jeep in Kernersville, NC. They have a huge inventory of Ram trucks and folks come from all over the US to buy from them.

Man, you weren't kidding about Kernersville. I just saw three 2015 2500 Mega Cab 4x4's with 6.4 Hemi with advertised price of $41k. That's crazy.

Just checked this site. All too expensive for our budget. No Tradesman Cummins. My local dealer has a better CTD selection and their online prices are similar discounts.

This time of year they will sell for actual dealer invoice less any factory incentives.Kelly blue book online will give you this info.
Just tell the dealer that you would like to see the factory invoice and they will show it to you.If they refuse go somewhere else.

Thanks for all the info. I was able to get a local dealer down 11K off MSRP on a 2015 Laramie diesel with a good price for the trade I had.

Any info on best bed liners would be appreciated?

I had a Rhino lining in a previous Silverado. Just make sure that the bed is prepared correctly if you get a spray in. I pressure washed mine and after 10 years it was good as new. I did have a bed cover.

Well, we pulled the trigger on a 2015 Ram Crew Cab Big Horn Cummins yesterday. After driving the Tradesman vs the Big Horn we decided to spend the extra for the added features.

We got just shy of $10k discount and a price just about the border line of good/excellent for our 2010 Tundra. It was due for new tires and had a dent in the rear chrome bumper.

I'll have to purchase Nert bars and a longer Equalizer shank. Going with the 12"/6" drop 2 1/2" receiver shank.

I took the truck to the AS storage after dropping the head to the lowest setting (9" with 3" drop) and the tow ball is still too high buy about 1" to 2". The 12"/6" drop should give me the flexible adjustment I need.

Ordered the Westin Protract Nerf bar too.

Next step is to shop for camper shell and I'll probably go with a Bedbug interior.

The last two photos show the Ram hitched up with WDH. The head is at the lowest position on the shank. I have 3 washers in the Equalizer head. Its hard to measure fender height on rough gravel.

The payload/load sticker show 2089lbs. The Tradesman trim was about 200 lba more. This should fit our needs.
