Just wondering - towing with Magnum?
Has anyone thought of or perhaps used a Dodge Magnum to pull one of our jems? I have an '05 magnum RT, it has the power and with the tow pkg, it is rated for 4500 lbs. I also have a '60 Tradewind, hmmmm.... They would look pretty good together, not sure if the tranny would hold up for a long run though. Just a thought.

Yes, one of our members back on the East coast uses one for towing. I'm trying to find a post by him, as I can't recall his username. I'll post as soon as I find it!

Found them! Member name is WBCCI9898.
Here's a link to their profile, so you could send them a private message about their setup.

Also, look up AndrewT. He specializes in using such vehicles for towing. I think he uses a Chrysler 300.

This combo has been cruising Upstate New York for some time now. Of course an Airstream would be a much easier tow than a boxy SOB.
Apparently much praise has come from many who are towing Airstreams with this Chrysler platform (V6 and V8 power plants). There is someone in town here that has used his Charger for years to tow his Airstream.

Me too!
I also tow with a Magnum. It is a 2006 R/T with a Reese Dual Cam hitch. No problems towing our 2003 25' Safari SS. Took it up to Thunder Bay a couple of years ago and didn't have any issues at all. Met another couple in TB who had the same set up.

What's the range of the fuel tank, towing, with a small reserve? An 18-gallon tank, at (what?) 10-mpg, so a fill up every 150 miles? Or, about 2.5-hrs of driving?
Or is it a higher mpg, given level Interstate and moderate speeds (say, 62 mph)?

fuel range... heck, what's the transmission range... with that kind of loading, every brake pad replacement would include swapping out trannies...

My apologies to WBCCI9898 for bringing you into this. I wasn't expecting people to criticise.

Well, I think it's cool... Who needs a 3/4 ton, when you can ride in comfort... And don't try and tell me a 3/4 ton is comfortable.. I've ridden in them I know.............

It is interesting, however, since I have had people tell me I'm absolutely CRAZY for pulling our 25' with a 1/2 ton truck, and here's someone pulling a 34' with a station wagon, and with one that would have been considered a mid size just a few years ago at that!
Wonder what Dodge says the towing capacity is?
