Personally, I would not pull a 28' with anything smaller than a 3/4 ton. It is my opinion, and based on years of experience, a 24-25' is the largest I would tow with a 1/2 ton, and the earlier Durangos were smaller and lighter than a 1/2 ton.

Hello North. Ford trucks 3/4 ton or 1 ton have a heavy duty suspension so that is normal. They do ride better under a load.

Try loading the rear end by adjusting torsion bars

Try changing shocks

Change spring configuration. ( less leafs in main and more in helper set)

Giood luck

By the way I do have a buddy that has towed a 1969 31 footer (airstream) since he bought it new, with a town car.

If you did buy 1 you wouldnt be alone.

Best?

This is the nicest riding tow vehicle I've ridden in, 3/4 Autoride Suburban. The 3/4's do not have the auto leveling feature.

Like-wise

Hi, my Lincoln Navigator with self leveling rear air suspension rides nice while towing our 25' Safari. As for the original poster, I would find it hard to find a nice soft ride in anything capeable of properly towing a 34'er.

Nice color combination ROBERT CROSS.

Would love to tow an Airstream with a new Caddy Escalade but they just won't pull the Airstream of my choice. What a comfy vehicle that SUV is!

I tow my 1970 23' Safari with a '99 Durango with a 5.9. I currently have 140k on the truck. Although I don't have expereince with other combo's, I would enjoy having some more power to get the trailer up to speed.

I cruise at 62. That is where the truck feels good. Steeper hills do seem to cause the truck to wok harder (naturally). Personnaly, if I were going above a 25', I'd want a more powerful truck.

Overall though, this combo works. But it could be better.

We pull our 1991 25ft. Classic with an F-250 diesel, this is a great truck to pull the Airstream and we wouldn't consider an F-150 due to the mountain ranges we pull it over, we have been very pleased with the comfort of the captains chairs in the truck, we recently went from pulling a 2005 16ft. CCD (Bambi) with a Lincoln Aviator (V8) and honestly, the ride didn't seem much better, certainly didn't have a better sense of control pulling like the F-250 does.

Hi, that Caddy has about 103 horsepower and 62 lbs more torque [@ 1650 more RPM] than my Lincoln. But the tow rateing is about 1,500 lbs less. [7,400 / Caddy and 8,900 / Lincoln.

Go figure
I've always loved pickup trucks and especially my Duramax so I reckon I'll just have to suffer
HAPPY TRAILS
