HOT deal?

got eyes on a 2014 GMC 2500 diesel, with 8000 honest to goodness, 8000 miles on it. Pretty much loaded, heavy duty tow pkg, bells & whistles to spare!

What would YOU pay for a cherry like that?

I had my last GMC for 15 years! Bought a new 2014 GMC . Chev Silverado and GMC Sierra are basically the same truck but the Chev "bow tie" is not my style. When I priced out my 1999 GMC V8 it was cheaper then the Silverado 6 cyl the dealer said it was because the GMC was considered a "work truck",,,gotta love that GMC grill. I don't know if that's still the case now never bothered to "price match'' when I bought the new one.

There was one like that 100 miles from me when I was looking and it was in the high 40s but it was a Chevy LTZ. It went pretty fast.

I test drove a Slate Gray 2015 Chevy LT with an upgraded LT trim package and it was $51. An identical red one on the local lot was $49. Maybe color matters. Nice truck but didn't pass the wife's butt test on the cloth seats. I have to admit they felt they could use a little more padding or shaping. Didn't like the audio system, too much bass despite the audio levels set neutral. It felt heavy in the steering when turning in tight places but on the highway it was nice and quiet. The dealer let me keep it overnight. In the end we decided to pass on it.

The Ford TorqueShift transmission has proven to be way superior to the Allison in every aspect of towing and is, in fact, a much stronger transmission than the current Allison. The Ford tranny and Allison are light years better than the Dodge transmission.

there are many 'options' which could affect price.. but, I think a 'new' one would be around $36k...

gmc vs chevy

I used to build these brands of trucks . They are basically the same truck built on the same assembly line. Occasionally, GmC will get a certain feature first, but this makes them the guinea pig before it is released to Chevy. My dad a Gm executive verifies this. MY 66 Dino

Hi, not to burst your bubble, but I would be concerned as to why it was returned/traded in with such low mileage. Lemon Law??????

CWO - chief warrant officer - serving at sea, and then got "shore duty" that kept him on other shores more than ours for most of the last 2 years. He decided to downsize both vehicle and RV since he so seldom gets time to use either. Got another GMC though.

You know, it's disquieting to see how many people get ready for the fun times - and then life happens all over again. Selling beats letting things become "yard art" though. And we who pick up the unused "used" stuff are grateful. (I got the EB used and the SHEETS were still in the package! The shower had never been used, ditto the throne, the mattress, the refrigerator, stove and sink.) The PO left it sitting in his yard for almost a year - but did make a duplicate key set with individual labels, and put all sorts of handy to know info on the inside of propane tank cover.

If you're older, that's probably because you've lost your hearing sensitivity to high frequencies (very common among older folks, esp if you've had a history of loud rock n rock, gun shooting, etc.). In any event, that's why you can adjust the EQ levels to boost the highs (or cut the lows), rather than set them to "flat"!

No reason to assume the WORST. Many times, people discover that for a wide variety of reasons, what they recently bought doesn't "fit" their needs.

We bought a new 2015 Yukon Denali last fall and after only 4k miles, this spring, we decided to trade it back in on a 2015 Sierra Denali HD truck.

Reason? We decided to get a 30' Serenity and the Yukon Denali wasn't built to handle that size trailer. Pure and simple. Nothing wrong with our virtually brand-new Yukon. Someone else probably got a great deal that Yukon Denali. These kinds of things happen all the time.

There is one just advertised here on the Forum. A 2013 but pretty pricey.

It is so quiet and smooth you would never know it's a diesel.

True... when vetting the new Duramax/Allison equipped Denali HD with my wife, she didn't realizr the truck has a diesel engine in it.... so smooth and quiet. Surprised me how quiet they are. We love it.

I bought the GMC 2500 Duramax Diesel vs Chevy because the GMC dealer has done business with me. I don't see a lot of difference between it and the Chevy. The two big decisions for me were 2500 vs 1500 and diesel vs gas. I decided after agonizing over making the decision and talking to a lot of people that there isn't a perfect answer. The 2500 is not as good a "daily driver" as the 1500 the 2500 diesel is much higher priced but all that said I am glad that I made the decision to go with the 3/4 ton diesel. I tow a 28 ft Flying cloud and barely realize that it is behind the truck. A big benefit on going with the diesel is the exhaust break! Safety was a huge consideration in my decision and I have a large margin of safety before I reach my load or tow capacity. I hope that this helps, there is no perfect answer but there is a best answer for each individual.

Guess What Happened Today?

I nearly pulled the trigger three times, but $65K list for a 2016 GMC was not something I could stomach even after beating down the price quite a bit. The one I got is well broken in, but should see me to the end of my towing days. Of course with 4 WD I'll have to adjust it being much higher than the F-150 or the 2wd Chevy Silverado 2500 HD.

I was prowling Cargurus.com and there was a 2013 that had 99% of what I wanted, and reasonably priced, and at a dealership 1 mile from my front door. The only downsides - it's white and has the 20 inch wheels - and it just came in Saturday so I found a can of Copenhagen in the console EEEUUUUWH! AND all of the radio channels are tuned to deep country. I mean Boxcar Willie country, not Garth Brooks country. It'll probably take me a year to get that all correctly re-programmed. I freely confess I have more than one Willie Nelson DVD - how the heck do you start a trip without the windows down and "On the Road Again" playing loudly for the first two miles?

It's not a work truck - it's loaded to the gills and overflowing.

AND I just this minute realized I'd forgotten to find out where to put in the DEF. (it is needed in a 2013 right?)

The hole for the hitch pin is completely round, so the truck has probably never been used for towing, but there's a decal in the back window for a stealth group of gov't contractors who work in the Middle East and other hot spots - so in truth the big truck probably sat in the drive while daddy was overseas driving a military humvee.

Should I call this one "The MotherTruck III" or perhaps put a winch on the front and just be "Wench with a Winch"

The salesman wondered how I knew all the stuff about tow vehicles - and was poleaxed when he realized I towed ALONE.

Do I sound a little jazzed?

Paula

Good find. Be thankful the PO chewed and didn't smoke. Didn't find a spittoon in there? Yes, Chevy 2500HDs can be purchased in any color as long as its white or black. Please post some photos when you have chance.

Smokey Yunick (The Best Damn Garage in Town) always claimed that designers at GMC just redid hubcaps and grills on Chevies.

Paula... let's see that cool truck! Got pics?

You will get accustomed to climbing up into the 4x4 (it's good exercise!) and the view over the cars in traffic is very nice to have. Plus... if you ever find yourself in some loose stuff... that 4WD will be just a switch click away. In the first month I used the 4x4 a couple of times with our truck. (Not while towing.) Nice to have!
