2013 GC & Safari 25 FB

Finally got around to taking the GC with the Safari to the scales and was mildly surprised that the total was only 11360 pounds. The GC GVWR is 6800# and the trailer is 6240#. Considering that the GCWR is 14,000#, I'm comfortable with this combo in spite of the naysayers. Still need to tweak the ProPride stinger to get the rig level. Tows better than I expected

Very pleased with the direct link brake controller as it's much easier to dial in than a Prodigy. The difference in HP and torque between the hemi and the diesel is not all that much. And yes, I understand that the diesel makes more torque at lower RPM's!

Friends just left that tow their Safari 25 FB with a VW Tourag diesel. The VW and the GC are almost identical in size.

I think you have the "sweet-spot" combo, looks great! You'll love towing the expressway and not even feeling semi's passing due to the PP and superior aerodynamics of the Airstream and GC.

I have a similar rig (25 foot Safari @6300lb GVWR, 2011 Chevy Traverse 6400 lbs, 3.6L 6-spd). I tow with a Hensley and Direclink controller...an excellent match with the high-speed and low-speed settings. I did downsize the tires to help keep the tranny in 5th while cruising on the highway, but otherwise it tows like the wind and handles really well. I expect you'll be as pleased as I am.

I also tow with a GC. Mine is a 2012 6 cyl. I only towing a 2011 20' Safari though. I get 13mpg or better and can cruise 80 no problem on the flats.

I would be interested to know how it pulls in the big mountains of Colorado?

Your combo looks great. I would think the short wheel base of the GC would allow transfer of weight to the front axle without too much difficulty. Did you weigh the GC solo at the scales? Were you satisfied with the amount of weight on the front axle vs. the rear?

I tow with my GMC Envoy a FC 30. We've towed about 3,000 miles so far but I haven't taken a trip the scales yet. We are headed to New Mexico in 2 weeks - I will stop at a scale along the way and see how everything measures out. But I have a pretty level ride and I'm happy with the handling.

Sitting in a NFS campground listening to the rain! Weighed the rig with water, food and my Navajo pointer dog and tipped the scales at 12,140 pounds. Tows better that the '12 Silvarado HD gas 4x4 crew cab!

Must admit that I was nervous even though this combo looked good on paper. The hemi never missed a beat and the tow/haul worked just fine.

The Propride hitch and DirectLink controller also worked well.
