I am following up to see how the floor is holding up? We are looking to add a finished floor to our 1975 Argosy, and we are leaning very heavily on the Smartcore product.
Thankx

Update on luxury vinyl flooring
2.5 years later and it’s great. No buckling at all. No rips - nothing. We had a toilet leak and had to pull up the entire bathroom and part of the bedroom. All of the pieces went back down perfectly. Love it!

Shaw Floorte
I installed Shaw's Floorte floor a year ago. Very happy with the quality of the product.

I have samples of both in the truck to take home tonight. Let's see what DW says. There seems to be height and stiffness differences.

My choice will be interlocking polyurethane foam floor mats. They come in many colors (and woodgrain), and even in a formulation that can withstand combat boots during martial arts training. They are waterproof, insulating, and can be taken up & out for cleaning and floor inspection.
This company has many products - even flooring for horse stalls.

We are happy with the choice so far ...

May I pick your brain?! I’m considering Flor for my ‘06 28’ Interstate. Do you remember how many carpet tiles you purchased for your trailer? How did you figure it out? Are they easy to cut?
Thank you!

Completed the installation of new LVP flooring and a new oak dinette table that I made to update the interior after 10 years.
The flooring is made by Engineered Floors and comes in planks with butt joints. After reading the pros and cons of "click Joint" and glue down floors I wanted something different. It can be loose laid or glued down and I liked the loose lay option in case a section has to come up in the future. The floor can be cut with a razor knife or jig saw.
I did all the removal & re-installation of the furniture and wisely paid a pro to install the flooring. So far I'm happy.

Safari Wall to Wall
Here is our ad to this post. Carpet installer measured, cut and bound four pieces for our 23FB. Can remove door or oven area to have cleaned separately.Plus, pattern hides a lot of "mess".

Is this the best of the best???
Luxury vinyl planks
virgin pvc ?
100 % waterproof
Can be installed in any floor of your house and in 3 season cottages
tolerates -4 F to 122 F
Floating installation
foam backing
hides subfloor imperfections
pet tolerant
wood grain finishes
residential lifetime and light commercial 5 years warranty But not in a RV.
and a bunch of other stuff.
about 3.50 sq ft
sells under a few brands including Peerless
The stuff we are looking at is Cove Mcway 2141
Anybody used this or know someone who has??? How about a great competitive product?

had this flooring installed a few days ago by experienced floating LV plank installers. Took them (2) 1 and a half hours to install everywhere but the bedroom and under the front couch of a 31 classic. lots of corners to go around. I had removed the existing trim, the carpet in front of the couch and the toilet. weather was just on the freezing mark and I had the interior heated to 65 F. that was 4 nights ago. weather is still cold with no interior heat and floor is still in place. Next steps are to replace trim and drive to Florida next week. But so far I'm happy. I'll update next April when I return to Ontario.

Lifeproof Rigid Vinyl Planks
We recently laid new flooring in our 2012 International Serenity. We chose a Lifeproof brand, rigid vinyl plank floating floor in "Sterling Oak". We love it and it went down a dream. It completely locks together, leaving no showing seams, and is "waterproof". It seems very strong and durable. I highly suggest it for anyone wanting to change out their floors. It took us 3 weekends to do it right (under bed, taking out dinette, etc.)

We used this flooring. We removed the flooring down to the sub flooring to correct a hump in the flooring.

Vinyl Plants or?
Hi, thanks for this thread. We are getting ready to put flooring in our airstream. We live in Santa Cruz, CA but will be full-timing in warmer climates, like in AZ all next winder and some tropical zones.
We have done a lot of research on brands that people have issues with. We had planned on going with a Vinyl plank until just now. Today we met with a friend who is a flooring professional and he told us that the chances of the floors expanding in heat and contracting in cold are huge. He also talked about the movement that would happen because we will be traveling. We are pretty bummed.
We googled what comes stock in new airstreams and it seems the flooring is sheet vinyl (YUK!!) We saw some today However, all renovation pics have plank flooring in them.
So, any thoughts on this? We don't want to have to redo and we don't want a buckling floor in our "home."
Thanks ~

I wouldn’t be so discouraged. I installed a cork floating floor 7 years ago and it has held up fine except when it got wet. Of course it messed it up but luckily I had some leftover from the installation and was able to replace the damaged pieces.
I have always felt that the best flooring to install would be sheet marmoleum. However it would probably be best left to a flooring professional.
The vinyl plank seems to be a good floor for a DIY installation. I am sure that your flooring professional friend knows his stuff, but I would tend to rely on the experience of the Airstream community that installed flooring that has worked out well for them. I like the flooring that Julie-Bob have installed.
Good luck in your flooring installation and full timing.
Dan

Thanks Dan!! We are going with the AS experts as well our friend checked with the manuf on the product and it should be okay. Install should be happening in the next week or so. We are so excited as we can see a light at the end of the renovation tunnel 🥳

Good call.
here is the link to I think what will bring you to the pictures of the Pergo floating floors we put in now over 12 years ago. They remain solid, and have been very accommodating in heat and cold.
Good luck, have fun and more importantly enjoy.

Cork or Marmoleum
I have been looking at flooring for my 1955 Safari renovation.
My choices are down to cork or marmoleum.
I would like to hear from those who have used cork...are you happy with your choice?

Just going to put this out there.... LVP or LVT Luxury Vinyl Plank or Tile.
XL Flooring Flexiplank flooring; glue down or lay down; planks or tile can be easily replaced by heating glue with hot air gun until glue lets go, then lay down new plank or tile into warm glue. Fairly light and very durable; not click together, so easily installed with an exact-o knife.
Very durable, fibreglass backer, will not shrink or expand, waterproof, easily installed.

Cheers

We have cork and like it very much. We have had it now at least 6 years. Some of it did get wet and of course this ruins it but I had enough left over from the original install to replace the damaged pieces.
I have a detailed write up with photos in the trailer section- Dan’s 66 Tradewind Improvements.
