What the heck is this?

When I bought my '69 Safari it had no toilet, but it did have this plastic gizmo, that I assume is the toilet surround. Problem is, I can't figure out how it goes in. Does anyone have this piece installed and can explain up, down, right and left to me? There is also a hinge plate on the back of the toilet area--what??!! Also, I am considering a Dometic 310 toilet--will measure for it once I figure how this thing fits. I do have the plastic shower surround, but it's not in the photo. Thanks!

Try flipping it over where the two square corners are on top. How do they match up with the two square corners at the back of the opening in the top? It looks like that might be a fit.

Dunno about your mystery part, but I do know that most of the airstreams have a fold down seat/cover that sit above the toilet. It is probably what was attached to your hinge.

Take a look at the bathroom picture from the vintage airstream site.

I think your piece needs to be flipped upside down so the flange curves around the corner like in the picture.
