New (to us) very worn 64 Overlander --need lots of advice
I am having trouble with this post. I have typed this same post like 5 times and kept getting can't find server. Thank goodness. I'm on. Anyway, just last week we purchased our very first Airstream. She is a 1964 Overlander and in need of much repair. We already started gutting it yesterday. Wow! There is sooo much to do. The floor is rotted in a few places. By the front window, front door, and in the rear bath by what was the toilet. Our toilet is gone. We are currently looking for any information on this rig. OM, wiring diagrams, plumbing systems. We are in the dark on the internal workings of this AS. Any information and advice is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums. A clue to posting new threads. I always hit the "select" the "copy" button before trying to post. That way if the posting does not work all you need to do is "paste" the original back in the screen with out typing it over. Saves a lot of frustration.
We have a wonderful search feature on this forum. Look up on the top bar and press search. Type what you want to know and it will give you the former threads on that subject. If no threads come up just start a new one and you will get plenty of answers.
Again welcome to the forum.

Welcome, I'm in the same boat as you, although hopefully not quite as bad. Copying your post is an excellent suggestion; seems the sever around here is a bit moody; I have to ding the search a couple of itmes to get it to function.
Searching can take some time; I've probably got 40 hours in inthe last 10 days. Keep at it and things start to make sense. And nobody's jumped me yet for duplicating a question, though I've tried not to be too stupid.
Good luck,
Rob

Hi, and again, welcome to the forums! 1964 was the first year for several things, the first was a rudimentary owner's manual, although service manuals didn't come along until the early 1970's.
There are several new Overlanders (Overlanderers? Overlandees?) here, and most of them seem to be 1964 models.
As far as info, there really isn't a whole lot as far as wiring diagrams or plumbing info out there. You can try to search for what you need to know, the "search" button near the upper right corner of your screen is invaluable. Just open it by clicking on it, and typing in say, "wiring diagram 1964" and see what that nets you.

Hi,
The manual we found for our '67 was helpful, but it didn't really teach us anything we didn't find out during gutting and removing/replacing the floor. It will begin to make sense as you pull things apart.
If you pull out the bathroom, keep it intact and don't throw it away. It can be repaired and/or sold to someone else who might want it. Keep pieces of floor for templates, and take lots and lots of pictures as you go, and label stuff with a wax pen or whatever as you tear out.
Good luck! If I hear of any '64 info I'll let you know. Maybe someone else out there has a manual and can scan the diagrams for you. If mine were the same year I'd send you copies of mine. People on this forum are pretty nice about helping.

PM me your address, I'll photocopy my manual and send it to you. I just ask for the cost of the copies and postage.
What are you plans for it? Total gut and redo or save what you can and reuse?
