inner over bulkhead

the strip that runs down the centre inside of our 79-" 31' " Land yacht measures 24", we want to run a strip of copper, measuring same 24" right down the centre measuring same, as well as re-do the facier's on the fridge/freezer to match. There is like an edge gaurd either side of the 24"centre strip, which we hope to trim the copper with, has anyone, ever taken or worked with this strip's or tried to remove it, we really don't want to damage this, but fear it being plastic or resin, it might snap.
Thx

You are talking about the trim pieces of molding that are on each side of the center roof strip?

two guys. The center strip covers many of the electrical harnesses (12v and 110V). The inner skin is also structural in that it forms the inner layer of the shell’s "sandwich" construction. Removing it and replacing it with something of lower strength would not be a good idea.

One option would be to cover the existing aluminum with copper. I’ll bet you could find 24” wide copper flashing from a high end roofing supply warehouse. You could treat it like a veneer and drill out the existing rivets (a section at a time), install the copper over the aluminum and then re-rivet through both layers into the overhead frame members.

Steve is also referring to that piece. The wires for many things are under it, and it ties together your roof side pieces. His idea to cover it is a solid one, as opposed to replacing it. Look at the varied metallic wall cover materials that are out there, some mentioned in other threads here. alsacorp, chemmetal ( not sure of spelling) offer these...might look great up there.
