Ceiling Fan?

Has anyone thought about, attempted, or ever installed a ceiling fan in an a/s? What were the results?

Either that or they were 4 feet tall. Check the interior height of Airstreams.

Most folks use Fantastic Fans which fit in the vents and thus do not effect the ceiling height or give you an unwanted crew cut.

We have been trying to think that one through since we got out Overlander. This summer Chris came up with this, (since we are both over 4' tall). He took two of the dc fans that are used for the front of Mhomes and installed them in the bedroom area on the driver's side of the unit. We have a side full bed permanently installed instead of the foam slide out that was originally there. They worked great and they oscillate. He takes them down when we are driving (he is worried about that weight shaking on the road ) and puts them inside the tamboured storage compartments.

We like to keep the covers on our original fans open while driving, although the fans only blow out. The covers pop straight up so air passes past and through them while traveling. The fantastic fans are a great idea, especially the rain sensor automatics, which cost a little over $200, but the covers tilt up and I wonder if they get blown away when open while driving? I would think the ceiling fans would be too bulky and dangerous inside a small space. I asked about them when looking at those huge MH's, and there was a safety issue about them.

There probably would be a problem if you opened them all the way but if you just open an inch or two it doesn't hurt. It gives a suction effect and helps move the air out.

I would not open the ones in front of the AC. The wind forces on the plastic covers and lift arms could damage them. The one in the rear though should be in the slipstream of the AC unit and not subjected to the full force of the moving air.

I think the PO of our 78 drove with the vents open, they are all bent up and will not close properly. That is why I am replacing them with fantastics.
