Other placement for window gasket?

Has any one ever tried placing the window gasket on the frame and not on the window it self? Yes I'm still gun shy about taking out the windows are reinstalling them..

I put this seal on with just the peel and stick adhesive that came with the gasket. So it should come off easily. We had a good rain two days ago, and inside frame stayed dry.

Any one tried this before?

It really makes no difference where the gasket is placed.

On the sash or on the frame works the same.

What DOES NOT WORK is relying on the white tape to properly apply the gasket to either surface.

It WILL FAIL unless you use the super weatherstrp adhesive, or an equal.

If the tape was any good, for the adhesion, the automotive industry would have used it many years ago.

Yep it peels right off. I just wanted to know what it would look like and if it might work. Glad to know that it can be used there. I got the glue in the truck. It's the yellow super weather.

100 percent negative on the yellow adhesive.

You must use the 3M8008, or an equal.

The yellow is far removed from being an equal.

Again, the auto industry would use it on gaskets. If you look, you will see black adhesive.

That's why the black adhesive is called "super" weatherstrip adhesive.

The yellow stuff is not called "super".

Looks pretty super to me! I hope this is super enough. The 3m is a good product, the RV parts supplier did not have it in stock, so I got this.

I should have said that 3M does not call the yellow adhesive "super".

I have no idea what your adhesive purchase can and cannot do.

Just a follow up on the "yellow" product. You have to apply one coat, then let it dry, then apply a second coat wait for it to become tacky then apply the weather strip. It becomes tacky fairly quickly and has a shorter working time than the 3m black. After using both, I think I like the black 3m better.
