Double seals on skylight?

While doing one thing or another refurbing my Airstream this weekend, I noticed the skylight has a seal on both the plastic lense, and the metal frame the lense seals against. Is this factory?

In the picture below, the yellow sticky is there for contrast. There are definitely two seals, not one seal torn in half. Davidz71 came by the house this weekend - it was great meeting him. He suggested the PO might of added it for better sealing.

Has anyone else seen double seals?

Thanks,
Tom

Tom.

A double seal is not necessary, "IF", in your case, the lift brackets near the top where they make a 90 degree bend, has not been stretched.

Also the correct gasket is an open cell gray foam material.
