Wink Replacing Windows

Hello. My dad and I are in the process of "remodeling" our 1974 Soverign. The bathroom fixtures are being redone. The floor is being put in as I type. All the original appliances have been refurbished. The only thing I need a little help on is the front windows. The seal has broke and there's some condensation. My dad would like to replace the windows. Would this be an easy task? Do I need to find windows that are from another 74 or can they be replaced new? Thank you for any info.

curved or flat

Are the windows curved or flat?

Nosuch thing as new windows for 1974 Airstream. You might get lucky and a dealer like inland rv might hav eone in stock but slim chance.

You can interchange some windows across years, especially the front. windows have not changed very much through the evolution.

You can check at some of the salvage yards listed in the Dealer and resource forum. A couple of them are Colaws RV and Singletons Rv.

If your windows are not broken you do not need to replace them. Ther are alternatives to ridding condensation.

If the windows are double paned, some folks remove the inner pane, (break it out), being careful not to damge the outer pane.

Sounds like you folks may be somewhat purist and I respect that,
so you will have to check the backstreets of the airstream parts world.

Good luck,
Smily

Thank you Andy. Can I get them from YOU? So a single pane can replace a double pane window?

Thanks again,
Lisa

Lisa.
Yes, you can order them from us. Please provide the trailer serial number when you call.
Single panes replace the double paned windows.
Our number is 800-8777311.

Andy:

Do you sell the plastic weatherstripping that is around the exterior edge of the windows? I have a 62 Overlander. The existing ones are brittle and some have been pulled off and silicon put in place.

Hi Andy,

I looked up the part and the one shown is different. I assuming that what I am talking about is weatherstripping. It is plastic, grey in color and is on the exterior of the window pane around the perimeter of the frame. It is cracked in places and in some areas has been removed and replaced with silicon. It looks like it holds the pane in the frame.
