The tale of the walking door hinge pin

This is a pretty well documented issue here on the forums. My 01' Classic S/O has the problematic entry door lower hinge pin that walks upwards after driving about 100 miles. On our last trip i had to tap it down 3 times. So I first had new tires / drums balanced along with replacement 550lb load bars in case I was just beating it to death. These things made a difference but the pin will still work its way upwards. So i thought I would try to install a roll pin to the lower pivot of the bottom hinge.

I bought a few drill bits 3/32 (and i went through two) and began to drill out the lower hinge part that attaches to the door not the coach. The coach part pivots as it opens and closes and this would break the roll pin.
The pin is very hard material so take it slow so you dont break off the drill bit !

Once drilled and deep enough for the roll pin to be tapped in i sealed the opening of the pin with parbond. Hopefully this frustrating little problem is behind me.

Evan, I just took a small cold chisel and gently pushed the hinge material over the top of the pin. Worked fine. This was on a '98 Safari.

New style pins have groove and a C clip between top and the next section of the hinge, works really well...
