Lock-out Kit

I just received the free lock-out kit from Andy/Inland RV [btw for your great service].

I have a 22' 2005 CCD. So far no real trouble with the door except that sometime we have to give it an extra nudge to get the latch to set.

I would really prefer to apply the 'fix' before I have a 'problem'.
So I naturely turn to those who have gone before.

I noticed that a few of you have done the install and all say it is easy.
The instructions seem fairly straight-forward.
Did anyone have to file/adjust either of the 'bits'?

Before I start dis-assembly of my door latch, is there anything I need to be careful about doing/not doing?

Any hints/help greatly appreciated.

Nothing hard about it. It's simple and straight forward. What's confusing is how the airstream manages to lock itself when both the trailer keys and car keys are inside!!!

Had to force the window locks open on the rear window to and trash the screen to get in. Do it before yours becomes possessed!

Jay...Just send Andy Rogozinski at Inland RV Center (391 Elizabeth Lane
Corona, CA 92880) a self-addressed stamped envelope and ask for the AS lock-out fix kit...

It's a couple of washers and an instruction sheet. You take off the inside lock assembly and install the washers per the instructions and put it back together...that's it...

Jon & Deb...The trickiest part of it is getting everything aligned properly when you put it back together, so pay attention when you take it apart. Installing the washer creates more tension on the lock mechanism so that it doesn't slide into the lock position quite as easily (or accidentally)... If I can do it, you can do it.

Luckily, the only time this happened to us, we were inside the AS...but we've been with at least 3 others on separate occasions who have locked themselves out accidentally. It's truly a bummer situation. Even with the fix, we now make sure we have our keys when we walk out the AS door these days.

Happy trails!

But, with 2 stamps on the envelope.

tbrich, mojo -

okay folks, thanks for your positive input.

i'll probably give it a try sometime this week-end.

if i'm lucky i won't end up with any extra pieces.
even luckier if i do this before i get myself locked out of the AS.

it always seems that the 5 minute jobs take 2 hours
and the supposed 2 hour jobs are done quickly.
