Door not locking

The main door on my '79 Soveriegn works well but its not locking, the key rotates to the left & right. Am I doing something wrong or is the lock broken?

sounds like the tumbler is broken. They usually crack and will not make any contact. If you take the lock out you can check.

Guys, is this the same lock found in my old '77 Excella 500 31'? If so, mine was locking on it's own without help from me. I bought a replacement tumbler with set of keys from Inland RV in Carona, CA. (Inland Andy). All you have to do is drill out the tumbler with the proper size drill bit, pick out the tumbler parts and slide in the new tumbler. A spring clip at the back of the tumbler will "spring out" and hold the tumbler in place.

Yeah, these locks have a spring mechanism where they will just spring locked when you close the door...hopefully you'll be inside and not outside in your jammies at 11:30 pm...! without a key...and without a husband to let you back in...
Happened to me two weeks ago, just stepped out to take a photo of snow falling in the desert...then couldn't get back in,
it happened to the neighbors earlier inthe morning...she got back in by her husband...it's happened to at least 10 others as well...I have to get another key made and taped to the trailer somewhere hidden. My car keys were in the trailer too...OY VAY!

If it is like mine, you can not lock yourself out. (at least I can't it is a positive lock manual manipulation only)

Can you post a pic?

If it is like this, there is a pin looking protrusion on the back of the tumbler, it may have wore/broken off

I believe this lock is called a KT200. I have gotten locked out. I have also had the door open on me driving down the highway. By the way in these 70's locks often the tumblers are so worn that a keys from different KT200s can be used interchangibly. You can also put a deadbolt in the coach which requires drilling through the door frame. I use a 2nd locking hasp lock which is the lock I actually lock. I don't want to take a chance on screwing up the door frame.
