Access compartment doors 1976 A/S
I am looking for an access compartment door for my 1976 A/S. I am thinking about adding a new door for more storage on the rear passenger side of my 31' rear bed A/S. I have removed the old heater vent and there is a lot of good storage area under the twin bed all the way to the back of the trailer I could use either the larger door that provides access to the fridge or the smaller door that provides access to the storage under the twin bed on the other side in the back. I know my only hope is finding some one who may have salvaged one of these from a 70"s model trailer.
Thanks

Greetings Don
I lost my fridge access door. I had a hard time finding a replacement. A
RV restoration business sold me one off a junker. But I don't think that they would have parted with it if I wasn't such a regular customer. While I was waiting to find a door, I made one out of 1/4 plywood, sandwiched between two sheets of aluminum. I riveted them together. It looked pretty good. Actually my friend was winding up to make fun of my craftsmanship. But he was impressed when he saw it.
Anyway , why did you remove the heater vent?
One of our members installed a door to hide an ugly dent

I, too, am happy with no furnace in a couple of Airstreams. You just have to camp a little differently when it comes to water in the winter.
Too bad Cherokee RV closed in Denver. They had all sorts of doors and curved skins, etc. I have heard there is an RV salvage place in central Florida that has a lot of AS parts, but I've not been able to locate them.

Sounds like a good idea. You will also need the door frame/ jamb. I would like to see a future post with step by step and pics. I am guessing the most important factor will be placement of the door in relation to the coach skin ribs. You may need to put in some extra stringers or ribbing for reinforcement. There is a space in my Tradewind just forward of the only exterior storage compartment which would work nice with another exterior access point.

I have a a fridge access door and frame that I will be removing soon and I also have a batterary accesss door and frame (above banana wrap style) that is currently taking up space in my basement. I will trade both of these for a street side wing window glass. Single or double pane, as all I want is the glass, I don't need the frame but will take it.

I would love to have the fridge access door and frame. But I don't have the side wing window to trade. How about hard cash.

New compartment doors...
Check out the following company. Among many other things they can supply brand new compartment doors. See what you think - perhaps they have something that would meet your need.

Thanks Kip. I double checked my measurements and found out why the larger door was not used in the storage area. The height would be above the bed. So the larger door you have will not work. I will need to stay with the storage door that is 11" high by !81/2 wide. Thanks for following up with the pictures. I did see a reply from someone else that was interested in your door so I am sure they may want it. I am just sorry that it would not fit on my A/S.
Thanks
Don
