TV Mount Question?

Just back from our first extended trip and everything worked perfect! The only pain was removing and storing the TV each time we moved. I have an articulated mount for our 22" but the only place to attached it is on a wall that has the fridge on the other side. Do I need to remove the fridge so I can put a backing plate to spread the weight? If yes how big a job is that?? Thanks for the help!
