Same volume settings? I know a lot of people who crank up the volume on CDs when listening to music but not on DVDs when they're watching a movie.

Just a guess, do you have LED lights or other possible sources of RF interferance? Does your player have a RF filter?

Are the CDs home-made music CDs? If so, it could be that the bit rate of the music file is not high enough to accommodate the complexity of the music so distortion occurs. If it is a professionally produced music CD like the kind you'd buy in the music department of a store then bit rate wouldn't be the problem. The bit rate can be changed in the software on your computer that you use to burn the music CD.

Is the same music CD distorted in, say, your car CD player?
