I can not determine where this wire comes from or where it attaches. I assume that it is a ground wire and may attach to the frame as it is in the rear bumper compartment of my 1976 26' Argosy. I am in the process of changing out the univolt with a intelli power 9200 series convertor. help would be appreciated.
I think that wire might be the feed to the AC lamp on your monitor panel. With a new converter you wont have that feed out and will have to add a 12 volt power source to drove the light. Basically wire a 12 transformer which is plugged into the same 110 volt outlet as your converter. Simple project. If your light is an led keep on mind it will be polarity sensitive.
Ventport I think you might be right. I did reinstall the univolt. It is still working with or without that wire grounded and it did not have any voltage while running the univolt. So I think I'll install the new converter and not worry about that wire. I do appreciate your quick response and close this thread.
OK, I just installed a new converter/charger, and I have the same wire. It comes right out of the Univolt and goes directly up to a fuse in the fuse panel.
I tried putting +12V on it, but no light on the control panel. I was gonna hook up a 120 Volt relay to it that would connect +12V to it when the shore power is on....
